Summertime is over, but the flowers are just beginning to bloom around here. I’ve decided to ditch my tiny paint brushes, magnifying glass, reference photos, and oil paint for something a bit more abstract and colorful. I’m switching to acrylic paint, and palette knives for the next 30 days of my 365 day art project. Wahoo!! Freedom at last!! 

I’ve been painting portraits with brushes every day since I started this project more than 60 days ago. Except for yesterday, most of the portraits have been painted in a tight, precise manner. Lately, I’ve been yearning to loosen up, and play. I’m not going to restrict myself as far as subject matter goes for the next 30 days. As long as I paint everything with knives, there aren’t any other rules.
