Black abstract painting
made with charcoal from the grill,
homemade coffee ink
& other art supplies
I used a brayer and wax paper on this one. I dropped bits of paint here and there, laid the wax paper on top if it, and rolled. I did this over and over until I was happy-ish with what I saw.
You can see places where the brayer lifted up paint off the paper, and made it stick to the wax paper. It makes the painting look grungy and distressed. This is a look I like a lot, and reminds of some of my early abstract work back in the late 1990s – early 2000s.
I’m questioning whether it’s done or not. What I’m finding with painting abstracts lately is that I need more than one sitting to complete them, and that’s perfectly okay. No rush.
What I’m watching: The Affair Season 5 on Amazon Prime – decided to watch the last season of this one before watching Atypical. I figure Atypical will be there for a while, since the last season is brand new, but you never know when/if they’ll pull this one or start charging for it. It’s soooo good!! I highly recommend it.
