Day 297
My husband just came in, and told me they make cucumber lemon Zevia, thinking I’d say “YUM! I want to try that!!” Instead, I wrinkled my nose up, and said, “I don’t like cucumbers.” He burst out laughing. Why? Because lately, I have been eating cucumbers faster than the store can truck them in, and I keep bugging him to plant some out in the garden. Of course, he doesn’t believe that I don’t like them. Why would he?
But, I honestly don’t like cucumbers. I know all the women reading this will get what I’m about to say. I like the cucumber salad I make because it mimics rice pasta salad without all the carbs and calories, but I don’t like how cucumbers taste in general. I have no desire to drink a sweet carbonated beverage that tastes like cucumbers. Yuck!! Does that make any sense?
He walked away, still laughing, and shaking his head saying, “I’m going to buy you 2 cases, and YOU’RE GOING TO DRINK IT.” And, I’m like, “NO! YOU’RE GONNA DRINK IT, MISTER.” hahahahaha Okay, I really didn’t say that, but I wish I had because if he buys it, he will be the one drinking it. I DON’T LIKE CUCUMBERS. Why won’t anyone believe me? 😉 😀

This girl might look familiar to you. It’s because I’ve used the same reference photos many times. I never get tired of painting her.

I know I complained about having to buy a $50 remote for my new Canon camera, but it was so worth the money I spent. I can’t tell you how nice it is to push the button and actually have the camera obey my command. The camera takes the photo immediately, without me having to repeatedly push the button or wave the remote around trying to find just the right spot that will make it work.
It was something I always took in stride, and didn’t think much of it. I now know how annoying that was, and after owning a Canon again for only a couple weeks, I wish I hadn’t switched over to Nikon 10 or 12 years ago. Why, oh why, didn’t I stay loyal to Canon? I would have saved myself so much aggravation, lost time and regret.
If you’re thinking about buying a camera, and you don’t know if you should go with a Canon or Nikon, I highly suggest Canon.

Day 293
I didn’t spend a lot of time on this one. Just went in and fixed her eye slightly because it was a bit wonky. I’m having a big studio sale in my shop..trying to make room for new stuff. She’s on sale now for 20% off, if you’re interested.

Summer has come early around here. The temperature is soaring. We’ve been getting fresh organic spinach, romaine lettuce, and ramps from Greg’s garden for the past few weeks. He’s too greedy to share the ramps with me (haha really, it’s okay..he eats them for sentimental reasons. I prefer onions myself), but I’ve been eating the spinach with asparagus and eggs every day for lunch. And, the lettuce every night for dinner. Such a treat.
We grew romaine lettuce all winter in the house. I’ve always wanted to grow vegetables year round, and we finally tried it. Winter gardening is the best! Look at all that lettuce!! This photo was taken on the back porch on Dec 21, 2018. Pretty amazing.
Can you believe the spinach grew outside in raised beds all winter, also? I can’t. We had a couple -zero days? I think it snowed once about an inch, too, if I remember right. It’s a miracle it made it through the winter.
Greg’s been keeping a close eye on it, and all through January, and February he kept saying, “The spinach and kale are still alive out there.” We also had kale growing, but it didn’t make it. I don’t think I actually believed him about the spinach until I saw it myself, and now I’m tasting it. mmm..

Day 292
You might remember this painting from a couple summers ago. This is what it used to look like..
Before shot
Every time I looked at it, I thought it looked unfinished or not as polished as it could be. She now feels complete to me.
Whoa..this picture is a bit tilted. I didn’t notice it until just now, but I promise you it’s a square 6×6 inches painting on hardboard.

As a person, she was quiet as a mouse, but as a werewolf? She was loud.
Umm..trying to recall if I filmed this one. I painted it about a month ago, so I don’t remember. Bah. Perhaps there will be a video on my youtube channel coming up soonish? Perhaps not. Speaking of videos..did you see the one I uploaded Wednesday? General Sadness is the title. Go..see.. and hey, subscribe while you’re there.

I finally broke free from the “haven’t read or watched anything in 2 weeks” prison I was living in. Making up for lost time. My brain feels soooo much better now. Ahhh..

Day 290
Haven’t been watching anything or reading any books for a couple weeks. Mostly I’ve been working around the clock, and passing out as soon as my head hits the pillow each night.
At least I’ve been listening to a lot of music while working. Found this new artist named Isacc Gracie, and I absolutely love his music. I’m such a sucker for boys with long blonde hair. He reminds me of Kurt Cobain, which makes me both sad, and hopeful for him at the same time.
