Some of these I really hate to sell, like this one. I haven’t felt this way about my art in a long time or maybe ever. I LOVE what I’ve been creating these days. I think that’s a good thing, mostly, except when I want to keep them all for myself. I’ve got several that I’ve been holding off posting because they’re hanging on my walls, and I don’t want to take them down if they sell. I keep imagining how that will make me feel, and I can’t bring myself to list them yet. That’s never happened before..usually a painting goes straight from my easel to my shop and blog without giving it a second thought.

Pink sky, black ground, little black storm cloud.

I like that little place over on the right, just above the ground. See that downward swoop, almost looks like a band-aid or something? Yeah, that. I don’t know what it is about it, but I like it. And, the black storm cloud, I like, too, of course.

I’m always scouring the web. These are my new and not so new findings..
1. Listening to: Wichita
3. Guacamole recipe
5. I’m sure you’ve heard of Ello by now..could this be the end of FB? That would make me pretty happy. 🙂 I’m not a fan of FB for sooo many reasons. I’m only there because everyone I know is there. No ads on Ello is pretty tempting. I’m ready whenever you are..just biding my time, waiting for my invite.

One of the functions of landscape is to correspond to, nurture, and provoke exploration of the landscape of the imagination. Space to walk is also space to think, and I think that’s one thing landscapes give us: places to think longer, more uninterrupted thoughts or thoughts to a rhythm other than the staccato of navigating the city.

My latest obsession is guacamole and tortilla chips. I have lived my entire life without knowing how tasty avocados are. How did that happen? Greg has eaten them for years, but I never tried them more than once or twice until about 6 months ago when I started making cabbage salad with them. Cabbage salad is basically cabbage, avocados, fresh pineapple, lemon juice, minced onion, and celery salt. Mash the avocados, add some lemon juice. Chop up the pineapple, and cabbage. Mix it all together. Sooo good. I eat it about 4 to 5 times a week. I’m trying not to get as obsessed with the guacamole and chips, but it’s difficult.

Landscape No 5
12×12 on canvas
Blue sky, puffy clouds, and sandy beach
Original painting is available here
You might recognize the top half of this painting. I originally painted it a couple years ago. There was something about the bottom half that really bugged me, tho. It used to be sorta red, and I don’t know. It wasn’t doing anything for me, so it had to go. In its place, a pretty sandy beach. Much more pleasing to the eye, imo.
At the end of the day, I’ll officially be on vacation. It’s the first one I’ve taken in years, and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it. I’ll be without internet access pretty much the entire time. Don’t worry, I worked extra hard last week, and I’ve scheduled enough blog posts until I get back. You won’t even miss me. See you in a week. 🙂
