My tablet, 2 pairs of glasses, tv remote, colored pencils, fan brush for brushing away eraser mess, pocket knife for sharpening pencils, allergy pills, and a timer. I should probably change the calendar, since it’s still on May.

This painting was created with all my artist friends in mind. It’s courageous to be confident, and you were born with courage. Keep doing what you’re doing. The world needs your art.
Keep your head in the clouds
Never stop making your dreams come true.
Happy PPF!
I have an art journal I keep just for making abstract paintings. Sometimes, I don’t want to paint faces. Sometimes, I don’t want to paint anything that resembles anything at all, but I still want to make art. Sometimes, I just want to be free to do whatever I please.

There is a hidden message in every waterfall. It says, if you are flexible, falling will not hurt you!

Sweet Pea kept circling around the window because she could hear this little guy outside. She may be blind, but she has incredible sense of hearing. I play string with her, and there’ll be all kinds of noise going on in the house, fans, tv blaring, dishwasher running. Doesn’t matter, she still knows exactly where the string is on the floor. Have I told you how amazing she is lately?
I’ll be your mess, you be mine

Gayle Forman, Where She Went
I bought those little plastic paint containers at Dick Blick. They remind me of when I did paint by numbers in oils when I was a kid, except they’re a little bigger. I don’t suggest putting oils in them, tho. I read that oils and plastic don’t mix. These are full of acrylic paint.
bucket full of paint
Here’s a great tip for artists: You can’t really see well in this photo, but to the left of the bucket is a jar of petroleum jelly. If you use a generous amount of it on the inside rim of your paint jars and/or tube covers, the covers won’t stick.
I moved kitty onto my studio door. She kept falling off the wall, and breaking her legs. 🙁 I like her better here, anyway.

I agree with everything he says,
“Sketch, sketch, sketch. Draw, draw, draw.”

I had a crazy dream about someone I knew long ago. Someone I haven’t thought about in years. It was so real, and I couldn’t shake it. All day I thought about the dream. Out of curiosity, I did a Goggle search, and found a phone number, physical and PO Box address, and also a FB page. Yes, I looked, but no, I’m not sending a friend request, calling or writing. What would I say? “Hey!! Remember me? Yeah, I know we haven’t seen each other in 15 years, but I had a dream about you. There were bad people chasing me, and you saved me.” haha Nah!! It would be way too weird. Best to just forget it ever happened..my dream, and the past.

Series of 20 masked girls on chipboard that I completed last week. I only have 15 chipboard left, so it will probably end up being a series of 35 before I’m finished. I enjoy working small.

Ah, yes. Friday has finally come. This week seemed long to me, even though I’ve slacked off on painting somewhat because I’ve been reading a book called White Mule by William Carlos Williams. It’s been so hot and muggy, near 100F, yet I’ve been sitting on the back porch with my legs tucked up underneath me. The lighting out there is perfect. My house is very dark, dark floors, dark woodwork, and it’s angled wrong. The light is never right, especially in the summer when the sun is high in the sky. The rooms are always back lit, and dark. The only comfortable reading spot is the back porch. I even sit out there in the winter with a hat and mittens on, if the book is interesting enough. This book is good enough to bear the heat. I rather like Mr. Williams. This book is a bit serious, but also hilarious, at times. He was so modern for his time. If you ever have a chance to read his books or poetry, do.

A movie I recommend watching this week, if you have Netflix, is Francis Ha. This is what Netflix says about it: “Determined to make it as a modern dancer in New York, a young woman pursues her unlikely goal with more enthusiasm than natural talent.”
It’s quirky, and if you haven’t guessed by now, my favorite category to watch. It has an average rating of 3.6 stars, but I gave it 5. I liked it, but thinking back on it now, I probably should have given it a 4 instead. I don’t give out 5s easily. I’m kinda a hard ass when it comes to rating movies. It has to be exceptional good, visually or I have to LOVE it enough to watch it again. I don’t feel as strongly about Francis Ha now that a couple days have passed. I liked it, and it was worth my time, but I don’t think I’d watch it again. So, I think I’ll go change my rating. Sorry, Francis. My rating is a 4.
Have a nice weekend, y’all. Greg and I had plans, but I think it’s suppose to rain. I might be in the studio. Either way, I’ll see you on Monday.
ps: I changed the width of my blog. It’s much wider now, so I should be able to upload larger photos. Let me know if it looks okay on your screen.
