Boy in gouache
Well, I did what I said I would, and messed around with gouache again. This time I didn’t have thoughts of switching over to the medium. I was glad when this little portrait was finished, so I could go back to acrylics & oils.
The art journal I picked to paint this portrait in is one I made with construction paper. I normally love painting on construction paper, but I think it made the gouache even more difficult to work with..because the paper is so matte, and gouache is dry/matte, the paint didn’t blend, and pretty much sat in a blob wherever I put it and didn’t want to budge. It was too busy soaking into the paper, I think. I didn’t like the experience (I will try again in another art journal with different paper), but I do love this photo transfer I did on another page..
I haven’t decided yet if I’m just going to leave this one as is or mess with it. I kinda feel like I’d ruin it if I do anything to it, and I love how it turned out..all distressed, and weathered looking. Then again, it might be cool to draw in some eyes. I’m feeling a strong urge to do that, so hm..
Maybe I’ll duplicate the image (scan it, print it out and make a photo transfer out of this photo transfer), and then draw eyes. Oooh! Might be fun to try..and then I could make a photo transfer out of that photo transfer. !!! And so on, and so on. I think I might be on to something here. 🙂 My printer is laser, and only prints black ink, but I could color it in.
Have a great Tuesday. xo
