Boys Wearing a Tie Series – What I learned

 

I ended up sketching out my boys wearing a tie series, after all. I know I said I felt freer starting with a blank canvas, and not drawing any of them first. That was very true.. at first. The problem was, it took me 2 days, and I only had 3 boys completed. It was taking far too long. 

 

I sketched these guys out in about 10 mins, and I was painting up a storm all afternoon. I got 5 or 6 of them done in a couple hours..much more efficient. So, as much as I don’t like to draw, it does indeed come in very handy, and makes life easier. I will still explore the blank canvas, but it will be sometime when I haven’t planned to do a slew of paintings for a series.
