It’s been raining here all week. Not like a warm summer rain, but a cold wintry one. I had to turn the heat back on, which is weird since it’s the middle of May. But what isn’t weird these days? Not much.
Questioning Everything

It warmed back up, and got humid yesterday. My stuffy head is telling me that May is back in full swing, and so are my outdoor allergies.
“Now is not the time to stay stuck. Now’s the time to move your feet. Now’s the time to raise your hand up, if you’re a creative, and to paint. Because..painting matters. Your art matters, and there are people out there who need to see your work.”
Mary’s one of my favorite landscape artists, and you should check her work out.
I don’t paint landscapes anymore, but I like her advice of looking for ordinary objects to paint.
Come Inside
Art journal pages
Remember when you could easily invite people inside, and not think about it? The thought of doing that now makes my eyes bug out. I look at everyone as if they’re a big germ waiting to infect me.

How to avoid burnout in the middle of a pandemic – because if you’re like me, you’re experiencing work fatigue like never before. Normally, I have endless energy for painting, but I can’t count the number of times I’ve hit a wall since February. I have custom orders that need my attention, but my brushes and knives are sooo heavy right now. I can’t seem to pick them up off the table. Good thing there’s no rush or deadline. I’d be in trouble.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a super awesome Friday.

Struggles and Triumphs
SOLD!
I continue to list these works on paper daily in my eBay store. Some are brand new, like the one above, and some have been kicking around my studio for a while.
Out of everything I paint, these little ones are my favorites, I think. They bring me the most joy while I’m painting because I get to make up stories about them in my head, and that’s always fun.
This particular girl was telling me all about her struggles and triumphs. She’s had a few ups and downs, you could say, but she’s still standing strong..just like all of us. Yeah!!
Hey, did you know that Gamblin has started to sell their oil paint themselves on their website. They also offer imperfect tubes at a reduced price. I only wish there were more colors to choose from, but there will be in time, I’m sure. I love me a good discount, and let’s face it, oil paint is super expensive. I don’t mind a dented tube, if it means I’ll save some money.
PS: The Gamblin brand came in second on my list of favorite oil paints back in 2017, when I rated best to worst oil paint. I reread the post, and it still stands true today. My favorite is still my favorite, and I’ll never buy my least favs again.
Yup, pretty much.
I do miss my family very much tho,
and can’t wait to wrap my arms around all of them again.

Harold & Maude
People deal too much with the negative, with what is wrong. Why not try and see positive things, to just touch those things and make them bloom?
Thich Nhat Hanh
I’ve been waiting on some good news
For the clouds to part and let the light shine through
I wanna wake up to a better tomorrow
I had enough, where is the trust, where is the truth,
it’s about time for some good news
I’ve had this song on repeat since yesterday. It makes me happy. I know we are months away from hearing good news here because our numbers continue to rise. And with people protesting to go back to work, it’s only going to get worse. Still, I’m trying to be optimistic. It gives me something to look forward to because good news is coming. I need to believe that right now.
This weekend I’m going to focus on all the positive things – painting, cuddling with my cute kitties and Chewybacca boo boo, making some veg soup in my insta-pot, reading, listening to the rain, having an adult beverage or two, and finishing up Succession on HBO before the free month ends.
Hope you have a good weekend, and are able to focus on the positive also. Stay safe. xo

haha..yup. Nothing’s changed. She jumped up in my lap a couple days ago, and before I even had time to pet her, she sliced my wrist open with her claws. Then she jumped down, and scurried away..fast as she could. I jumped up, and ran to the bathroom to wash the blood off. LOL Ooooh, that girl!! There’s never a dull moment with her around. I still don’t know what I did to piss her off..I was just quietly reading a book. 🤣😂😺

…and then, I have nature and art and poetry, and if that is not enough, what is enough?
Vincent van Gogh
It snowed last night, and it’s so weird because it only snowed on one of my chairs..the one I always sit in, of course. lol There’s no snow on the ground anywhere or in the other chairs…just my chair. What? And, I’m not talking about a dusting. I’m talking about an inch or more of snow in my chair.
This all has seemed like a low budget sucky movie or a bad acid trip from the start, and it just gets weirder by the day. I mean..how?? Why?? A snow cloud formed over my chair, and dumped on it? Well, okay, then..

I’m so lucky
all my pets love to snuggle.
What I’m reading: A blog post by Amy..Drawing to Calm Anxiety – which is an excellent way to be present in the moment. I do this all the time when I’m painting in my art journals.
What I’m watching: still making my way through Succession..I’m kinda slow at getting around to watch it because I have to commit to an hour of sitting still, and pay attention, but I absolutely LOVE it. The only problem is now I’ll have to order HBO when a new season comes out, but I knew that going in. It’s worth it, tho.
Have a great weekend. Stay safe and healthy. xo
