Small thing
A small thing, repeated, is not a small thing.

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend, and you’re feeling well rested. New floral paintings are slowly being listed in my shop. The one on the bottom left has been sold already.
Highlight of my weekend: Sweet Pea and Harold
**********
Watching: Grace and Frankie – so many people told me I would love this series, but meh..I shoulda listened to my gut. I hate to be negative, but I also like to be honest. I’d only give it 1.5 stars out of 5. Really sorry to disappoint anyone. It’s just not for me.
Listening to: S Town – now this I like. What a crazy story this is. Hard to believe it’s true. If you’re looking for something to listen to while you paint, I highly recommend this podcast. I just started chapter 6. If you’re listening, what chapter are you on? No spoilers, please.

Look what I got in the mail from Sheila Delgado!
Thanks so much!!
I also got the note you sent me through G+.

When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

I have a stack of these that I’m going to work on getting into my shop this week. I have photographed them, but still need to edit all the photos. It will probably actually take me longer than a week to get to all of them because 1. I tend to underestimate how much time a project is going to take, and 2. I’m trying to spend less time doing computer work, and more time painting.

Snow Kept Falling
This painting sold a couple weeks ago,
but have no fear!
Prints are available here!
I wish I got to see snow this year because I find it so magical to stand inside all toasty and warm, watching it fall out of the sky. Unfortunately, that never happened. We got some ice once or twice, and that’s it. Not much of a winter, but there’s always hope for next year.

I’ve had a busy week in the studio. I painted three of these girls using the same reference photo. I’ll be showing you all of them soon.
Remember when I said our blind kitty, Sweet Pea, likes to walk across the back of our dining room chairs?
My husband reads my blog, and sent me this photo.
I’m always too busy biting my nails to think of picking up a camera.
🙂 She knows how to push my buttons.
Is it any wonder her full legal name is Sweet Pea Dare Devil Snuggle Pants Wood?
There’s no stopping this brave girl.
Harold Garde – featured artist
Harold Garde: Working Artist, Trailer
I only found Harold a short time ago, so I haven’t had a chance to really dig in and explore his work in detail yet. I know I love his personality, and his bright, bold paintings, tho. What a sweetie. I want to watch his Working Artist film, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Maybe it hasn’t been released yet? I’m going to keep looking for it.
You can read more about Mr. Garde on Wikipedia, and you can visit his website here.
About this featured artist series: I pretty much always keep my nose to the grindstone, and rarely look up from my own work. I’m so busy in my studio, who has time for anything else? That’s what I used to think, anyway, but I want to change that a bit, and spend 2017 exploring other artists’ work. My thinking is this.. maybe by understanding what makes other artists tick, I can better understand myself, and why art is so important to me. I hate the thought of keeping these gems all to myself, so I thought I’d share them with you. Look for new posts every Thursday.
