I don’t know how to tell you what I feel. I live in perpetual expectancy. You come and the time slips away as if in a dream. It is only when you go that I realize completely your presence. And then it is too late. You numb me.

It may be spring, but..
Painting a Golf Series
Where Did It Go?
Palette knife painting by me,
Katherine Wood
I was asked a few weeks ago if I would submit work
to be considered for a book about golf.
The painting above was a test run I painted in my art journal.
The rest of the series is on chipboard, and
will be available in the near future in my Etsy shop.
The book will come out later this spring, early summer.
I don’t know much about golf, although I do watch it
on weekends.
One little known fact about me is..
I’m a sports fanatic.
I don’t have any particular teams that I follow,
I just watch whatever’s on.
A couple nights ago I sat up until 2 am
watching ski racing I had on the DVR.
This is something I do alone.
Greg isn’t what I would call a sports fan.
He’ll watch a football game with me,
but most of last season,
I watched the games by myself.
My great grandmother, Sadie,
loved baseball,
and so did my mother.
I guess I get it from them,
except..
I don’t like baseball.
lol
It’s about the only sport on tv
that I don’t watch.
🙂
I’ll let you know when the book is published,
and whether any of my paintings are in it.
I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to buy it
on
Amazon.
Keep your fingers crossed for me that I’ll make the cut.

On the easel – large couple painting
Still working on this palette knife painting..
it’s been several weeks, and multiple layers of paint.
Not finished yet, but getting close now.
It’s suppose to snow tomorrow and Thursday.
I can’t wait!!
It will be so cool to watch it fall from my studio in the trees.
Listening to Asaf Avidan while painting today..
and now you can, too.
Enjoy!
I’m such a sucker for boys who play guitar and harmonica.
New Studio Pics
where i will be creating
i’ve been working on getting some reference photos
up on the walls.
not so i can copy them,
but just to have them there as guidance..
Ooooh, yeah, that’s what a nose looks like!!
type of thing.
you know..
I couldn’t hang anything up on the plastered walls
downstairs because it was
too rough,
but up here the walls are smoother, and I’m liking that!
still bare bones, and I’m pretty sure this will change..but,
this is where I’ll be writing, for now.
I think I have to turn my desk towards the other wall
because I like to watch Netflix or tv while I paint, and
the way it is now,
i can’t see my laptop or tv from where my easel is..
not good planning on my part. lol
I’m debating putting curtains on the windows
I like all the light that comes in.
It has blinds that I have pulled all the way up,
so I don’t really need curtains.
I swear the sun was making a heart shape through the clouds,
just for me,
and you, of course.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
I’m almost all moved in,
and I’ve already painted
my first painting
from up here in the trees.
More tomorrow! 🙂
On the easel today and moving my studio..
New white and gray abstract painting
I took it off the easel, and hung it above my desk.
I’ll live with it for a few days, and see if I want to make any changes.
I’m moving my studio..again.
It seems like I do this a lot.
I hope this time will be more permanent
because it’s all going upstairs.
We’re turning the entire upstairs into a
HUGE studio,
and moving the bedroom downstairs,
into what is now my studio.
That way, we will live downstairs,
and work upstairs
instead of having it spread out all over the place.
It will be great,
once it’s all done. haha
In the meantime,
I’ll be busy.
If I’m not around much,
you can guess what I’ll be doing. 🙂
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the ocean
Fresh off the easel are these new acrylic abstract mini paintings. Most of my artwork is vibrant, so I wanted to mute the color on this series. I’ve been wanting to do a black and white series forever..like at least 2 years, maybe three? I have no idea what took me so long. I guess I’ve been afraid of not using color. Like, what can you really do with just black and white?
The funny thing is when I picked up the palette knife, I had nooo idea what I was going to do with it, but it all came together quickly. Once I started, I couldn’t stop.
I also have some 6x6s that I’ll be listing over the next few weeks.
