This was an old abstract painting I created roughly 6 or 8 years ago. It’s been hanging out in a box in my closet for a while now. I decided a few weeks ago to do something with these paintings, so I’m going to revise them.
I love how the collage paper shows through.
Since I’ve been focusing on mostly abstract painting for about a year and a half now, I feel more confident about tackling the huge job of revising all those old paintings. So far, I’ve really enjoyed it, and absolutely LOVE the outcome.
I titled this one Sliding Toward Twilight. In my mind, I have made up several stories about this painting, and it changes slightly every time I look at it. If you purchase this painting, I hope you’ll see it through your imagination, like I do. The painting can be whatever you’d like it to be. Don’t be afraid to make it your own.
Dazzling sunrise I saw a couple weeks ago
Those rippled lines, tho.
What i like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.

Creepy face I saw in the shower curtain
I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

This is old news, but it was new to me. Maybe you too? Neuroscientists Discover a Song That Reduces Anxiety By 65% – I think it works really well. I tested it out when I was having a bit of anxiety earlier today. It calmed me down immediately. What do you think? If you like it, there’s a 10 hour version on Youtube, so you can listen all day or night.
Wow! This IG post makes me glad I pre-ordered his book the other day. I don’t know too much about this family, other than they’re popular youtubers. I’ve only watched a handful or so of their videos, but recently I caught wind of their son, and Jonathan’s story. I really wish them all the best, and I look forward to reading the book next month. After seeing Jonathan’s IG post, it sounds like the book’s written from the heart, and those type of books always appeal to me most.
Finished watching season two of Tiger King, and The Doc Antle Story. Not going to give away any spoilers, but how crazy is this story? Who to believe?
Reading about, and gawking at Emile Bernard’s French post-impressionist paintings. LOVE!
Reading (audio book) – The Hobbit by BBC Radio
I hope you’re having a lovely Monday. xo

Book I finished listening to this week:
Body and Mind Are One: A Training in Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh – LOVED it! If you have Audible, check it out. It’s read by Thich himself. Or rather, it’s him speaking to an audience in several of his public talks.
Started to listen to..
Mindfulness, Bliss, and Beyond: A Meditator’s Handbook by Ajahn Brahm – Also, gets a LOVE from me. It’s not read by Ajahn Brahm, tho, sadly..and also, none of the usual Ajahn jokes so far. It’s still awesome tho.
Have a lovely weekend. 🙂

Dried paint that I pried off my jar of mauve paint
It looks like a little crown.

Weirdly, I liked everything about this one, except the pink paint. Now that I’m looking at the photos, the pink is starting to grow on me. It’s still a work in progress.

I posted on my Youtube channel for the first time in 3 years. Can’t believe so much time has passed since I’ve made a video. I just recently started making these little video clips for my Etsy listings, so I figured I might as well post them on YT, my new IG, and here on my blog, also.
Need to get back to painting my oil portrait series, but I can’t get motivated to do so. It’s on my to-do list and is something I want to focus for 2022. However, I know from experience that making myself create something that I’m not into or feeling atm is usually not a good way to spend my time. So for now I’m gonna stick with something I do want to paint, and that’s abstracts. Why force it?

Watching: Finished season 3 of Succession, and now I want to watch it again. I do this every time I finish a season because I’m absolutely sure I missed something the first time around. They laid the complicated, encrypted business speak on even thicker this time around. I have no idea how the actors remember their lines. I got a bit lost, and feel I need to rewatch it or find some episode recaps to read online to get up to speed. What an amazing show, tho. The writing is absolutely fantastic – fast paced, and creative. LOVE!!
I don’t usually post any of the custom work I create since I’m usually working with personal reference photos from my clients. I highly value their privacy. If I ever do post anything, I get permission first.

Custom animal dog portrait
I was commissioned to paint this cute little guy a couple months ago. Although he is definitely an important part of their family, since he’s not a human (although that could be debated, I’m sure) I don’t think they would mind if I share this here. The title of this painting is The Favorite Child. It was purchased by two daughters for their Mom’s birthday. 🎁🤣🐶🦴
If you’re looking for a custom painting, contact me, and let’s discuss the details. Payment plans are available.
Word of the year
Happy New Year! I hope it’s been a good one for you so far. Time is moving quickly onwards, isn’t it? Hard to believe it’s already the 5th day of the new year. Anyway, it’s lovely to be back here today writing blog posts once again.
I’m going to start off with the word I’ve picked for 2022. I had work in mind when I originally chose this word, but it’s turning out to be useful in my personal life as well. I have chosen “Focus” for 2022.
I hung my word right over my work table,
so I can’t miss seeing it
when I’m working.
My aim is to hone in, and “focus” on my list of goals for 2022 – which I’m keeping short to make the focusing part easier, while still keeping the door open for opportunities that might come my way.
Did you pick a word of the year? LMK in the comments below. I’m curious.
Over the winter break, I updated my blog. The sidebar is back, and full of lots of goodies. I’ll be adding more stuff soon. If you’re receiving my posts in email, and you haven’t visited my site in a while, you might want to check out the changes.
Also, if you love Twitter as much as I do, but dislike seeing what’s trending because of all the negativity, there is a plugin available that makes the sidebar disappear. I only see my feed, which is full of fabulous art, and photography.

This will be my last post until next month. Unlike last year, I am going to be unplugging from the internet during this 6 day retreat. I want to be fully present, and enjoy every second of it.
If you order anything from my Etsy, eBay or here on my site, shipping will be delayed until I return to work. I have tentatively set the date of my return to be January 10th. If I come back sooner, I’ll let you know.
I wish you happiness, peace (of mind & body), and freedom from suffering. Sadhu!
