What it looks like in the northeast today. It’s like I had a premonition that it’s winter, and it might snow or something. lol

Day 227
This drawing has now been painted.
Also, I want to mention that I’ve reduced the prices of more paintings in my Etsy shop. Some of these paintings are now as low as $25.00. Get ’em while you can.
Kam from over at AJ Schwartz Law office, who specializes in artist copyright law, emailed me a link to their blog post, thinking some of my readers might be interested..A Beginner’s Guide to Freelancing: What to Consider Before Jumping Headfirst Into the Gig Economy. Thanks, Kam!
Have a great weekend everyone.
I’ll see you next week.

*****
You might remember this painting from back in July. I painted it on watercolor paper, and I recently mounted it on a 5×7 panel. I thought I’d show you the finished piece.
It’s available here.
If prints are more your thing, you’ll find them here.

I love how things come full circle. I’ve been wanting to start a black and white series for years now, but never got around to doing it. Probably because I have a long list of series that I’m constantly working on like the bird series (over 200), floral series (over 300), landscape series (356), abstract series (started in 1999, so I’ve lost count), the girl and bird series (30), the sunglasses/glasses portrait series (10ish), the sisters/friends series (15ish), and the series of portraits on 6×6 panel (26). I also have a long list of retired series, such as the Plain Jane Series (200), the $10 series (100+), the Masquerade Mask series (100+), and the Photo Booth Series (20-30). I know there’s probably more I’m forgetting, but my point is, I’ve been a little busy. haha
I recently started to reread The Age of Reason by Jean-Paul Satre for the 3rd or 4th time. It led me to looking up his lifelong partner online, Simone de Beauvoir. When I saw the black and white photo of her, so full of emotion, I knew I had to paint her. So the black & white series has finally begun, perhaps? The photo above is only the first layer. Still needs a lot of work, but I’m letting it dry a bit before I continue.
In the meantime, I started painting a black & white of Virginia Woolfe, which if you follow me on IG you’ll see there. BTW, my IG is often times way ahead of my blog because I post more in the moment type things there. Feel free to follow me.

In Japan, employees occasionally work themselves to death. It’s called Karoshi. I don’t want that to happen to anybody in my department. The trick is to take a break as soon as you see a bright light and hear dead relatives beckon.

I found the quote after titling the painting. There’s is something about the center of the painting that makes me want to walk closer to it to get a better look, so I named it Beckon. The quote struck me quite funny because that’s how I feel about painting..I’ll still be doing it on my deathbed. I suppose I am working myself to death because I never plan on retiring. I have the best job in the world. Why would I want to stop?
The painting can be hung either side up. I keep going back and forth on which way I like better, so you’ll have to decide for yourself.
