Mixed Media Artist - daily painter of portraits, flowers, abstracts and birds
Just call me the cat whisperer. I was sitting cross legged in the chair outside, having a moment of zen, when this sweet boy wandered into the yard. He jumped up in my lap, purred up a storm, took a long nap, and we’ve been besties ever since. I don’t know what his name is, so I’ve been calling him Mister. I’m pretty sure he has a home nearby because he looks well cared for, and fed.
I painted the bird below, and then saw this amazing sunset a couple hours later, which resembles my painting..sorta. I think the universe was copying me. 😉
Lots of commotion in the studio over the weekend. I started to revise some bird paintings, and also painted an abstract. I filmed the entire process, and will be sharing the videos sometime next month.

In case you haven’t heard, I’ll be uploading videos daily for the entire month of May. Since getting the new YT channel for palette knife painting, I’m been going back and forth on which channel to use next month. I’ve already got several portrait painting videos edited, so I’ve decided I’m going to split up the 31 days between both of my yt channels.
Monday thru Thursday, I’ll be uploading palette knife painting videos here. There will be lots of abstracts, some florals, and bird paintings.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I’ll be uploading portrait painting videos here.
Be sure to click the links, and subscribe now, so you don’t miss out. 🙂
Baby Harold & Maude video
I don’t think I’ll be daily blogging the process because for some reason videos show up as blank space for my email subscribers. It would get super annoying to receive 31 empty emails.
I’m going to try a different way of embedding the video today to see if I can get it to go through. If this works, I’ll consider blogging every day, but if not, you’ll just have to sub to my channels.
This little bug woke me up around 5 this morning. I didn’t go to sleep until about 1am. It’s been a long day.

This little one is just as much a night owl as Harold. We were outside playing ball at 3 am a couple nights ago. Who needs sleep around here, anyway? I sure hope my neighbors didn’t mind.
I’m off to clean my studio..what a mess!
PS: if you’re subscribed to my blog, please let me know if the video above came through, and if you’re not subscribed, whatcha waiting for? Sign up is below. 🙂

I must have snapped this photo of the sun from my phone, which was inside my orange sweatshirt. Didn’t realize it until I uploaded the photos onto my Mac. 🙂 Happy accidents are my favorite.

Watching: Harry Benson: Shoot First
It’s a documentary about a photographer who shot many famous photos of celebrities. It was okay, but it seemed long and repetitive. I fell asleep about 3/4 of the way through, and it didn’t hold my interest enough to go back to finish it. If you care about celebrities, mostly those who are dead, you’ll probably like it.
Velvet Buzzsaw
I’m not even going to waste my time linking to this one. This is a new, just released movie on Netflix, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal. It was slow, boring, made no sense, acting wasn’t great, and we stopped watching after 50 mins in. Good thing because I’ve since read it turns into a horror film. I see enough horror in the news, don’t need to see more. However, if I was into horror films, this one would stink. Nothing happens. It’s lame, and I wish I could get my 50 mins back. HUGE thumbs down.
Have you watched anything good lately? Please let me know.
I started working on a new watercolor paper series, and this one is my favorite so far. I got the inspiration for the piece by looking through one of my old art journals. I came across this page I did years ago of a tired young man, and wanted to create something new.
I don’t usually paint blonde hair. I find it difficult to mix yellow paint just right, and it never looks good out of the jar/tube..not for hair anyway. Also, yellow isn’t a color I use often as a prominent color in my work. However, since I had just finished up a commissioned painting of a blonde haired young woman, the yellow paint was sitting there on my table, staring at me, as if daring me to use it. I took the challenge seriously, so I reached for the yellow paint. I half expected at the time that I would change her hair color sometime during the process, but I liked it so much I kept it.
The snow only lasted a couple days.
It was 70F over the weekend.
I actually got a slight sunburn
on my face.
But now winter is back,
and it’s cold, and blustery
again.
Brr!!
Not to backtrack, but speaking of custom paintings..I have added some more options for commissioned paintings in my Etsy shop. There are now 4×4, 6×6, 9×12 sizes, and 3 different painting styles to choose from. Plus, I have added oil paint as an option. Check it out!
I’m also having another 25% off original paintings sale. I need to make room for new paintings coming this year, and I don’t have much storage space. Right now there are boxes of finished paintings lining the walls of my studio. Help a girl out, won’t you?

I added quite a few new abstracts in my Etsy shop last week, including some farmhouse style prints..

Reading: Left in the Cold – a story about how lonely the elderly feel in Maine in the wintertime.
Something I never thought of before..there are several ways to write an X. I’m No 8 with my right hand, and No 7 when I write with my left. Very interesting!!
PS: I just upped the font size on my blog because I thought it was a bit small. Please let me know if it’s too large now.
Revising Halloween paintings
Work in progress
Those who have followed me for a while know
I used to paint a lot of masquerade mask portrait paintings,
like, a lot, a lot.
And then I stopped.
Because, nothing lasts forever,
y’know?
Over my summer hiatus I found a stash
of 4×4 miniatures
hanging out behind the scenes.
Because I painted them so long ago,
all were in desperate need of
revision. So I figured,
why not?
Once these are finished,
it’s hard to say if or when I’ll paint more.
I’m trying to hurry,
so I can
get them revised, photographed,
and listed here in my shop before Halloween.
I’m also listing them in my Etsy shop
so these are time sensitive,
and might not last long.
First come, first serve basis.
I’ll be adding more as I finish them,
but these are
one of a kind original paintings.
If you see one you like,
get it while you can.

Had to flip the ac back on a couple days ago. Seems as if the heat, sun, and humidity are back to stay for the next week or so.

The princess of the house,

I like to look at my art in different ways sometimes.
Okay, here’s the video I promised you. If you’re seeing this post via email you’ll probably wonder what I’m talking about because all you see is white space. For some reason, videos have trouble making it through email subscriptions, which is why I’m linking to it on youtube.
One last thing before I go..more merchandise has been added to my Etsy shop. I’m now offering leggings, along with pillows, framed prints, and phone cases in my Etsy shop.

What was my blog like before I started the daily painting project? I asked myself this the other day. I honestly couldn’t remember what it’s like to write a post that isn’t all about keeping track of how many days I’ve been painting. I’m not sure if this is a good or bad thing.
