Quick post for Wednesday!!
I haz fotos to share.
Sweet Pea hears a bird, I think.
Leslie encourages Buy Now buttons, but this time around I won’t have any. I don’t want to feel rushed to paint sellable paintings every day. I think painting 30 paintings in 30 days is confining enough without adding more pressure, especially at the start of a new year. And, who knows? This time around I might want to keep allllll the paintings for meeeeeeself.
And, this..THIS blew me AWAY. sigh OMGOSH..
such a TREASURE!!!
I was so shocked when I saw it.
I mean, just a few weeks ago she posted it on her blog,
and now it’s here, in my house..
in my hands, and I’m looking for the best place
to hang it. !!!
I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!
Awww!! I will treasure this always.
Help!! There’s a cat in my bed!!!
Lola and her pleading eyes,
as if there was anything I could do.
That cat has a mind of her own! lol

Annabelle has such a concerned look on her face.
Maybe she’s thinking, why is there a cat in the dog’s bed. I don’t know? heh

Me in my old studio, downstairs.
We moved it all upstairs a few days after this photo was taken.
I LOVE being tucked away up here,
and the big mess gone from down there.
Now we can actually live down there,
and work ONLY up here.
It used to be normal to cook dinner, fold laundry,
and work at the same time.
I NEVER got any rest.
Now, work and living space are separated.
Soooo much easier.

In September, I did the challenge, and my theme was photo booth paintings. You can see the entire month of paintings here. I found old photo booth pics online to use for reference photos. It was fun, but I want to do something different this time, I think..I’m thinking abstract. Maybe narrow it down. Abstract kitties or something? No, not kitties. lol Not abstract, either..I’m thinking out loud here. How about 30 days of art journaling? hm..I don’t know.
In January, I’ll be taking Misty’s class, also. I just signed up. YES!!! It will be a busy month, and I’ll be blogging every day again. sigh. Not looking forward to the blogging part, but okay. lol I’m going to do it differently than in September..not nearly as many photos as I posted before. One photo, and maybe a few words, and that’s it. It’s really too much work, otherwise.

The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case.~ Chuck Close
Happy PPF, and Friday the 13th, everyone!! 🙂

That is my problem with life, I just rush through it, like I’m being chased. Even things whose whole point is slowness, like drinking relaxing tea. When I drink relaxing tea I suck it down like I’m in a contest for who can drink relaxing tea the quickest. ~Miranda July
🙂 I’m a little obsessed with Miranda right now. Do you do that? Do you get obsessed with people? Do you Google them, and watch their films, read their books or follow their blogs with a great passion? Do you daydream about hanging out with them in person, maybe be their very best friend and confidant? I do that, A LOT. I would suck down relaxing tea with Miranda any day! It gets lonely in my studio, all alone. But, I always seem late to the party. Sometimes really late, and sometimes just a hair too late. Sigh. I’m not going to give up, tho. I just need to pay attention.
What I like best is the kind of complicated messed up truth, you know … the one that’s so imperfect that you know it’s true. ~Miranda July

You Cast a Spell on Me
In Your Absence
A painting I did after my mother passed away in 2010.
Revised last week. It’s a little more colorful now.
I was heavily inspired by this poem:
your absence has gone through me
like a thread through a needle.
everything i do is stitched with its color.
