What I’m reading: I gave up reading Cruddy by Lynda Barry. It was waaay too dark for my liking. As it progressed, and seemed to be hinting of going places I realllllly didn’t want to go, I became reluctant to sit down and read. I thought, this is stupid to avoid reading altogether because I don’t want to read this particular book, so I cheated a little, and watched a review on the book on YT. I knew then for sure it wasn’t a book for me. It goes even darker, which I figured, and although I wanted to like it because of the illustrations, it’s definitely not my cup of tea.
So, I’m now reading Bird By Bird, which is book on writing by Anne Lamott. I read this book a few years back, but it’s worth a second read, imo. I’m still looking for a book that lets me escape the real world into make believe, but until I can find one that suits my needs, I’ll continue reading nonfiction.
Stillness is not about focusing on nothingness;
it’s about creating a clearing.
It’s opening up an emotionally clutter-free space
and allowing ourselves to feel
and think
and dream
and question…

Happy Monday..hope you had a great weekend. Have you noticed the days are getting longer? It was still light out at 5:45pm Saturday night. Spring will be here before we know it.

Chewy with his slurpy tongue,
licking his nose,
and then he’ll kiss my face.
How gross.
lol
Another gorgeous sunrise this morning.
I love getting up early for this reason alone,
but also..
if I didn’t get up,
I’d have a wet bed
because little dogs can’t hold their pee
for long,
and neither can old ladies like me.
😀 😀 😀
But..
who cares because
LOOK AT THAT PINK SKY!!
It was breathtaking in person.
little bum bitty BUMS
😀
I’m off to watch Bloodline on Netflix, and snuggle with these two cuties. Hopefully Sweet Pea and Chewybaca will join us because Bloodline is pretty riveting..I need them all close by cause Mama gets scared. lol Not really, but shh! Don’t tell them or they won’t cuddle with me. 😉
What are you watching these days?
Chewy met Chewy

I know I said I wouldn’t be blogging today, but I’m only dashing on for a second to show you my birthday present from my step kid, Jai. Isn’t it amazzzzzing???!!! It was painted by their roommate, artist George Jules. If you’d like to commission George for a pet portrait, hit him up on Instagram. Thanks so much, Jai, and George. <3 You really made my day. xoxo
My playlist today,

I can NOT wait to see my son,
and his beautiful familia.
Hope you’re having a great weekend.

Oil portrait
work in progress
It’s such a shame that artists tend to blog about a painting once or twice, and the post is soon buried under a hundred other posts, never to be seen or looked at again.
#ThrowbackThursday
This happens to be one of my favorite paintings, so I thought why not bring it back to the top of my blog posts in TBT style.
Hey girl, hey! It’s nice to see you again. 🙂

I’m thinking of mixing things up a bit for the summer, and making a new weekly habit out of digging through my 20+ year archive to see what I can dust off, and re-post. So look for some Wayback Wednesday (personal art: photo stories, poems, art journal pages) and Throwback Thursday (older paintings) posts next week.
Every Friday I’ll have a new video up on both of my YT channels. I hope you’ll check it out, and subscribe.
Portrait channel – tomorrow I’ll be flipping through one of my art journals, and sharing it with you. Plus, I’ll be posting a new pink and gray abstract painting on my palette knife channel.
So, it’s almost the weekend, and it feels like summer is just around the corner. We’ve finally been having some beautiful warm weather. The rain has stopped, and the rivers and creeks are no longer flooding. At least I don’t think so..I don’t watch the local news (or any news..I have way less anxiety, fear, and anger to deal with this way) unless the weather is bad.
I’ve been trying to get some quality Chewy time in every morning. He’s been cooped up indoors for weeks, so we’ve been going for a 30 to 45 minute walk. We live within walking distance of a few different parks now, which is really cool.

Looks like there was a whole ‘nother Chewy hiding in there.
😀
I want to hear about your weekend plans. Doing anything fun? What did you get accomplished this week in your studio? Let me know in the comments. 🙂
Cold, windy, snow, freezing rain, little sun.
Dinner with the cats, warm blankets, electric blankets, wool sweaters, boots.
Endless cups of steaming coffee,
crockpot full of hot homemade soup,
and the best recipe ever for peanut butter cookies.
Going to bed early to get warm, sleeping in late to stay warm.
Listening to the sound of pouring rain on the roof.
Sneaking outside during breaks of weather to grab food and other necessaries.
Ticking days off the calendar
wondering what happened to our mild winters.
Peppermint tea, licorice tea, blueberry tea, chamomile tea,
orange spice tea, lemon ginger tea, and
chai.
Wet towels and many hairs to dry
Snow, Snow, SNow, SNOw, SNOW
I apologize that I missed blogging last week. I’m buried under a ton of work, and every day is melding into the next. Same, same, same. That’s pretty much how the end of every season feels to me..tedious and boring. It doesn’t feel worth the effort to pull my phone of out my pocket to take yet another photo of snow or rain. Even Chewy looks sick of it. lol
If things get too quiet here, you can always find me on Miz Katie on IG, FB, Twitter, Art by Katie Jeanne on IG, and Pinterest, where I’m trying to keep my promise of updating more often. Psst..I’m actually updating every day.

I must have snapped this photo of the sun from my phone, which was inside my orange sweatshirt. Didn’t realize it until I uploaded the photos onto my Mac. 🙂 Happy accidents are my favorite.

Watching: Harry Benson: Shoot First
It’s a documentary about a photographer who shot many famous photos of celebrities. It was okay, but it seemed long and repetitive. I fell asleep about 3/4 of the way through, and it didn’t hold my interest enough to go back to finish it. If you care about celebrities, mostly those who are dead, you’ll probably like it.
Velvet Buzzsaw
I’m not even going to waste my time linking to this one. This is a new, just released movie on Netflix, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal. It was slow, boring, made no sense, acting wasn’t great, and we stopped watching after 50 mins in. Good thing because I’ve since read it turns into a horror film. I see enough horror in the news, don’t need to see more. However, if I was into horror films, this one would stink. Nothing happens. It’s lame, and I wish I could get my 50 mins back. HUGE thumbs down.
Have you watched anything good lately? Please let me know.
