This painting, titled Caught Up in Whimsy is available in my shop.
It went from raining for 2 solid months to HOT, sunny, and humid, just like that. Oh, snap! Had to turn the air on for the first time last week. I can’t complain, we’ve turned it on in February before. This year, we actually had springlike weather, and a nice long break from the heat. I promised my husband this year that I would lay off the moaning and groaning about how hot it is. He LOVES summer. Me, I could skip over the entire season, and be happy as a lark (an old saying my grandmother used to say). I’m going to stay positive though. I am!! I’m going to take 5 showers a day, and I’m not going to complain. Yeah, sure. haha
You are the sky. Everything else – it’s just the weather.

Always looking ahead
The secret to so many artists living so long is that every painting is a new adventure. So, you see, they’re always looking ahead to something new and exciting. The secret is not to look back. -Norman Rockwell
I got interrupted when I was painting this one, so I don’t think she’s finished yet. Although, I’m tempted to leave her this way. I like the dramatic colors, and scowl on her face. It tells a story. I’m not sure what just yet, but I’m sure if I thought about it for a minute, I could come up with something.

I have been spending most of May painting abstracts. Well, I’ve been painting other things, too, like a large girl and bird painting, and a large 6 figure painting. I’ve pretty much been in my studio around the clock lately. I thought it was only appropriate to title this one Caught up in Whimsy because that’s the life I’m living at the moment, and I couldn’t be happier.

These peaceful moments
work table
Sweet Pea has the biggest crush on Harold, and Harold can’t get enough of Sweet Pea, but they bicker and fight alllllll the time, still. It’s a power struggle, I think. Sweet Pea lived here first, and has seniority, but Harold is male. They still haven’t worked out who’s in charge yet. It’s quite stressful at times, so I cherish these peaceful moments with them together. At the end of a long day of scratching each others eyes out, they like to hold paws. It’s the cutest thing evah! Except when they start fighting over whose paw should be where..arrrggh. 🙂
La La La Spring
A couple weeks ago, I had the urge to paint with brushes again. I made mixed media bird paintings, some with collage. There are only ten, and they’re all different. I called it my Funky Bird Series, and you can find them in my Miz Katie shop.
