Everyone Wants a Piece of the Pie

This was fun to paint. It’s one of those
“This is for me, so I do not give a shit”
type of paintings.
I’d rather play than tie myself all up in a knot.
Messy, loose, freeeeeing.
Enjoy!

I need to update this photo because after seeing it on the screen, I went in, and added a few tiny details here and there. Nothing big..like, I made her nostrils darker, and gave it a few touchups here and there.

I’m pretty sure I had Jenny Mustard in mind when I painted this one, although the reference I used wasn’t Jenny. I think I referenced a model in an old Vogue magazine, if I remember right. My blog is running about a month behind what I’m working on in real time, and because I paint so much, I get fuzzy on the details sometimes.
Reading: Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life by Jenna Bush Hagar and Barbara Pierce Bush – this is a feel good, pull at your heartstrings kind of book that makes me miss being a little kid. No matter what side you land on in politics, I think you’ll enjoy reading this book. Once I started reading, I had a hard time putting it down.

Listening to The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast – In the The Power of Consistent Sharing podcast he talks about a musician, Emily Hope Price, who set out to create a song a day for 365 days. Turns out she didn’t make it through the entire year. She got to 7 or 8 months when she was presented with a huge deal, so her focus was diverted elsewhere. Still, what a great accomplishment! I can’t imagine the time it took to create a new song every single day for that long.

Day 306
I’m incapable of painting an exact replica. You can ask, and if I’m feeling up for the challenge, I can promise to try. But, reality is, it will never happen because that moment has passed. There’s no going back and retracing steps. No two original paintings are ever the same. If you see a painting you like, I highly suggest you purchase it while you still can. More paintings were added this morning..go see!!
New painting demo videos and weekly schedule
I’ve been saying for a while now that I want to step up my youtube video game. I have been recording again since January, and have a huge stockpile of videos. I just never figured out how to fit editing the video into my schedule. I’m pretty sure the only way it’s going to happen is if I make a commitment to getting it done. No excuses.
I’ll be uploading two videos a week to my Youtube channel on Wednesday and Saturday. If you’re not subscribed, you should be, and you can do so here! This is what you’ve missed out on so far, the making of..
