Chickadee bird
acrylic animal painting
If I’m going to be a caged bird,
I’ll sing the best song I can.

I’ve been struggling with this mini painting for quite some time now. And, by struggle, I mean it’s been on my work table for literally months. It’s only 4×4 inches. You’d think I could whip these babies out in a matter of 5 minutes or less. Wrong! The truth is, some paintings don’t come together easily for me. Often times the mini paintings take far longer than large ones.
I have no idea why I choose to be so picky with some paintings, and others, not at all. This one I’m fussing over, and it’s starting to get on my last nerve. It was pink, which you can see peeking through in places, but I didn’t like it. I changed it to green, and I like it even less now. I’m thinking of changing it back to pink.
Or I might put it in my huge clearance sale – as is, so I don’t have to work on it anymore..because sometimes enough is enough, and I gotta call timeout on a painting or I’ll never finish it.
I mean, I don’t know what my problem is, exactly. It’s a cute painting, so why am I being so hard on myself? I think it’s because I’m not happy with that shade of green I mixed. I usually mix green by using yellow, black, and white. This time I mixed blue and yellow, and I don’t like it. Oh, well. I think it’s time to move on.
