Palette Knife Painting
Oil Landscape Series No 1
Available HERE
The paint pictured is acrylic, and is only a prop. I used Winsor & Newton oil paint on this painting.
I’m not in any way bored with painting florals. In fact, I feel like I’m just getting started. However, I’ve been saying I want to try en plein air painting for a long while now. I bought a travel tripod easel at least 2 years ago, and it’s been sitting in the corner of my studio, not being used. It’s time to add a landscape series to the mix.
Kansas might be a flyover state, but I am in love with the beautiful flat ground, and endless prairie fields. I grew up in the white mountains in New England. I always joke and say, you can’t see more than a few feet in front of you there because there’s always a mountain in the way. haha It’s soooo true, tho. It does tend to make me feel claustrophobic after living out here for so many years. Outside the city, that BIG sky, and land as far as the eye can see, driving down dusty dirt roads with corn towering over my car waaay taller than I’ll ever be, endless miles of sunflowers in August because it’s the Sunflower State, after all..this is home to me.
Day 26 of 30/30.
