Frequently Asked Questions
updated 9/4/2018
Q: Where can I find you on social media?
A: Pinterest, Twitter, Flickr, Youtube, G+
For IG, FB, and Etsy, I have two social media accounts because of the different styles of painting I create.
Miz Katie – portrait paintings
Art by Katie Jeanne – floral, bird, abstract paintings & prints
Q: Will you donate x amount of paintings or money to my charity?
A: I appreciate your interest in my work. My policy is to only donate items, money or services to select local non-profit organizations. You’re more than welcome to purchase one of my paintings, and donate it to the charity of your choice.
Q: I’d like to purchase a painting. Can I send you a personal check?
A: I accept Paypal only. You can pay with your Paypal balance or use your credit or debit card.
Q: I don’t like Etsy. Can I buy paintings directly through you?
A: Absolutely! Contact me with the title(s) of the painting(s), and I’ll invoice you through Paypal.
Q: To save shipping charges can I pick a painting up at your studio or will you ship through my personal shipping agent?
A: For security reasons, I don’t allow artwork to be picked up at my studio or use third party shipping companies.
Q: Can I order a custom or commissioned painting?
A: It depends on how busy my schedule is at the moment. November thru February are my busiest months, so I sometimes stop taking commissions during that time, but not always. Your best bet is to contact me.
Q: Do you require a deposit for custom or commissioned work?
A: Yes, a non-refundable deposit is required, and a contract must be signed before I start working. The amount of the deposit depends on the total amount of your painting, but it’s generally around 30% of the total, which allows me to purchase all the art supplies needed to start.
Q: Do you teach online art classes?
A: At this time I do not teach any classes. You’re more than welcome to watch my Youtube videos to get an idea of how I paint, tho.
Q: Are you interested in having your artwork published in my book, blog, website, magazine, or can I use your work for cover art?
A: Absolutely! If you think my artwork matches the style you’re looking for, I would love to work with you. Please contact me with as much information as you possibly can, and please include a timeframe.
Q: Do you accept wholesale orders?
A: Yes, please contact me.
Q: I want to buy several paintings, can I have a discount?
A: I’m sure we can work something out. Contact me.
Q: Are you interested in gallery representation?
A: Sure! Please contact me with your gallery name, website, and other information.
Q: Can I call or contact you for advice about my business?
A: I get this question almost daily. Please try to understand I’m a busy working artist, not a business coach. If I took time out of my day to answer everyone’s questions, I would be neglecting my own work and deadlines. Therefore, it’s my policy not to discuss business with anyone, including close friends. Thank you for understanding.
Q: Where do you buy your art supplies?
A: Dick Blick, and Jerry’s Artarama. I don’t have any local art supplies stores, so I have to buy everything online.
Q: What paint do you use?
A: Acrylics: Golden Heavy Body, Soho Urban Artist Acrylics, Liquitex Heavy Body, and Golden fluid acrylics. For oil paintings, I used to use Winsor and Newton, but switched to Gamblin in 2016.
I do have a few other brand names in my paint collection, but these are the brands I use and rely on most. I buy mostly primary colors, and then mix my own colors from there.
Q: Favorite brushes?
A. The brushes I have are: Royal Soft Grip, Royal Langnickel Golden Taklon pack of 30, Robert Simmons long handle brushes, Liquitex Basics Brushes, and Blick Economy Golden Nylon Brushes
Q: What canvas do you use?
A: Blick Premier Cotton Canvas is my favorite.
Q: Favorite journal to use for art journaling?
