I know the timing is a little off to be painting masquerade mask portraits, but it felt like the right time for me to revise this older painting of mine. 

The colors were all wrong on this one. Orange and blue – straight out of the jar. No mixing. Orange used to be one of my favorite go-to colors, and it’s also a color associated with Halloween, so I get why I painted it like I did. It just didn’t match my style anymore, so I had to change it.  

I love how making just a few tweaks here and there can turn a meh painting into a LOVE IT painting for me.

“Keep painting until you love it” – sage advice I took to heart when I took a Misty Mawn class a few years ago.

This little one was sitting right outside our backdoor a couple days ago. I thought she might have been nesting because the bird below seemed overly protective of her. She was keeping a close eye on me, but she didn’t mind me walking past her to go inside to get my camera. She stayed for the longest time. After she finally flew away we immediately ran to look to see if she had laid eggs, but nope. Not sure what her story is, but it’s fascinating to me.

Oh! Before I go..did you see this ASMR video I posted? Lots of swishy brush and palette knife sounds. This video was more about the soft quiet art noises than it was about the painting itself, but I like how it came out.
