Making an abstract painting in my art journal
layer one
I wanted to create this page slowly, and give myself some time and space in between layers. So, I put down the first layer, set the timer for one hour, and walked away.

Layer 2
I was busy doing other things the day I was creating this, so when the timer went off, I quickly painted in some oval white circles, and I was back out the door.

When the timer went off the second time, I wanted to use some collage papers, which I keep in a giant box. I shut my eyes, reached in the box, and pulled out some pieces that I glued down in my book using gel medium.
Layer 4
I added some white paint using palette knives
and some fluid acrylics.
If you want to try this exercise for yourself, feel free. If you don’t want to wait an hour between layers, set the timer for only 10 minutes or whatever drying time you need. Take a break, make some tea, text someone you love, and when you come back, you’ll be seeing your work with new fresh eyes each time.
I’m not sure yet if I’m going to keep adding layers to these pages or leave them be. I’ll make up my mind next time.

The last great mystery of the mind: meet the people who have unusual – or non-existent – inner voices – It was soooo intriguing to read these stories. I’m always very curious about how other people think and process emotions.
