This might be my new favorite of the 100 oil series so far. I love everything about it..the emotion, the colors, her expression. It was a fun one to paint. 

The more emotionally raw my portraits are, the more attached I am to them. If I don’t paint emotion into a face, I might as well be painting a rock or a tree. I love rocks & trees, but I’m a portrait artist because I want to paint emotion.

I hope to make others feel something when they look at my portraits, and when they do, I know I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.

The other day I was thinking about how bad my brushes were..like little stubs, and that I needed to buy new ones. Then I opened a drawer I haven’t in a while, and what was staring back at me, but a pack of brand new brushes. Woohoo!! What a difference it’s made.
