Happy pony & other barnyard animals
Just a quickie this week. I’ve been super busy shipping out orders, and didn’t have time to write a long letter.
I’m not sure why this happens, but it seems to happen a lot. Things can be super quiet across all my online shops, and then BAM! All of a sudden, I get slammed with 17 orders to package up, and get out the door. Woohoo!! Feast or famine, that’s how it seems to go.
Something to ponder…
“Who was the guy who first looked at a cow and said 'I think I’ll drink whatever comes out of these when I squeeze ’em?”
Bill Watterson
I’ve never thought about it before. Good question!
🤣 🐮 🐄 🤠
This piggy makes me giggle every time I see it. Look at that nose, and a ring around her eye.
That’s gonna do it for me tonight. I need to get over to my work table and get cracking. I found a stack of unfinished paintings & a brand new 5 subject notebook (to use as my art journal!!!) yesterday when I was cleaning my studio, and I’m about to get my hands real messy. (as if I need another art journal, oh my. I only have about 10 I’m working on) So, until next week, I’ll see you in the note section.
What I’m reading:
The Sideways Life of Denny Voss by Holly Kennedy
What I’ve been watching:
What Making Art Really Costs. - Danny Gregory
Mayao Miyazaki’s thoughts on an artificial intellence by Manhattan Project for a Nuclear-Free World
And this is Art Prof Clara’s response to seeing that video…
Artist’s Brutally Honest Opinion on AI - Art Prof Clara
“Miyazaki says, quote, I am utterly disgusted. If you really want to make creepy stuff, you can go ahead and do it, but I would never wish to incorporate this technology into my work at all. I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself.
This is a much bigger conversation than I can get into, but it really feels that way. It feels like a complete gut punch and insult to what so many of us have poured our lives into.”
Thank you for saying this, Clara. That AI work is indeed creepy, and I think most artists are feeling the punch to the gut over AI “art” slop.
Apologies if I’ve shared any of these links before. Sometimes I work on 5 to 10 drafts at the same time, and I forget what links I’ve shared. I’m too lazy to go back and look.
My artwork is available on Daily Paintworks (US shipping only), Etsy, and eBay (worldwide shipping).
Check out my weekly eBay auctions with low starting bids.
You can also find me on pinksky & blsky, where I post multiple times a day.
I’ve also been posting notes here on Substack in between these longer posts.
