While I was tidying up my studio last week, I found acrylic paint in little pots, and since it was starting to harden up, I decided to use it asap.
I looked for more 4x4 panels while I was going through my cabinet, and drawers. I didn’t find any, so I must have used them all.
I swore I would never ever buy more mini panels, but that was right after I ended my 300+ bird series a couple years back. I was burnt out on birds & mini paintings at that time.
Now that time has passed, I’m feeling a pull toward painting birds again. I have got to learn not to use the word “never” when it comes to art because I usually end up eating crow. 😛 No pun intended.
The pic above shows the birds I painted a couple weeks ago, ICYMI.

So much for “never”, I had 100 mini wooden panels delivered last week. I hope I don’t regret it in a few days. I haven’t had the chance to use them yet, but I figure winter is coming, and it’s gonna be a long one. Might as well have a bird party to pass the time.
Chickadees & little songbirds are my favorite birds to paint. I've also been doing a little research to find birds I’ve never painted before to keep things fresh.
The birds above are what is left of the 300+ series from a couple years ago, I think I counted 25 of them in total, and I finally got around to listing them.
Things I saw online last week worth sharing:
Emily Foucart is having an abstract painting challenge in September & October, if you’d like to join. I wish I could, but I can’t commit to painting daily right now because of my schedule. I’ll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines, tho.

Atomic Habits - I’ve listened to the audiobook a couple times, and I liked it, but I’m getting more out of reading it.
That’s gonna do it for me. I hope you’re having a creative weekend.

Hi, I really like your work, both the portraits and the birds. Somehow you manage to inject vitality in what could otherwise be a static subject. Do you ever paint landscape? Cheers!
