July art journal pages photo dump
Wow, Wednesday sure gets here quickly when you write two posts a week. I just finished writing last weekend’s post, and bam. Back at it.
Today I’m sharing a photo dump. These are some of the pages from my art journals that I completed last month. I’m gonna post them all at once so I can clean up the July folder. How is it almost mid August already?
Not gonna add much commentary because I’ve written enough for three people lately. Also, I’m hot (it’s 109F right now), tired, and have orders to ship out. 😌 Enjoy!
I had said I was going to finish this art journal this month, but after counting how many pages are left – 74, there’s no way that will be possible. Even if I painted every day, I’d have to paint numerous pages a day to be finished in 2 weeks, and really, it’s just an art journal. There’s no need to rush. I will finish it sometime.
I also have several other journals I’m working in, like this 8x8 square one.
I’m also working in a 9x11.5 inch rectangle one.
I was thinking of nesting dolls when I painted this one.
This guy, and the drawing below are older, but I took photos last month, so here they are again.
There are about 100 more photos, shot at different angles, but I don’t have the photos resized yet. Soon.
I take a lot of photos when I’m painting, and usually end up deleting most of them. It’s good to have them tho in case some are blurry or the lighting is bad.
ICYMI - Tom Hanks is now my painting buddy. I saw his face in the paint splatters on my palette lid, so I filled in some details and voila! I can now say Tom’s helping me out in the studio. 😁

Even if you don’t click on the link, I hope you let the title sink in. It stopped me in my tracks when I first read it. It was a few days before my birthday (gulp!) last month, and the title alone felt like a gift. Thank you, Hannah.

Also still making my way through The Dutch House. 337 pages is a bit to chew through, and it’s dragging like a Donna Tartt book, but I love Donna Tartt books. Well, 2 of them (didn’t like The Little Friend at all & dnf it). I hope I love this one, too, in the end. I have a little less than 100 pages to go, so we’ll see.
Spoiler alert: I DNF this book, and returned it to the library. I wanted so badly to love it, but I can’t even say I liked this one. I was bored out of my mind, and when I read the 1 star reviews and everyone said it didn’t get better, I gave up. I’ll try again with another one of her books sometime soon.
Then I borrowed The Pearl by John Steinbeck, and read the whole thing yesterday afternoon. I remembered reading this one years ago because I’m a huge Steinbeck fan, and have read all his books. I couldn’t recall much about it until I got near the end and gasped. Oh, yeah..my memory is completely refreshed now. Yikes. I definitely wasn’t bored reading this one.
