A custom oil pastel portrait painting will be created from your photo on paper. The portrait will be made in my cartoonish, naive, primitive, outsider art style. The portrait will look somewhat like the person in your photo, but it will not be realistic. I’m no longer accepting commissions for realistic portraits.

My preferred painting style is playful, loose, childlike, whimsical, and often times, humorously silly. I like to tap into my imagination and think like a child while creating. I might exaggerate facial expressions and/or paint stripes and polka dots to make the painting more fun.

How to order a custom painting..

1. I want to be sure I’m the right artist for you, so please don’t purchase until after you contact me, and have sent me reference photos to use. 

2. Be sure to send in a close up photo of the face you’d like painted. It can be a selfie taken with your phone, but please make sure the lighting is good. I can’t work with dark, blurry or out of focus shots. I need to be able to see your person clearly in order to create the painting.

3. Because of the size I’m offering, I will be painting just the face & neck area of your person. The background will be color only – it might have stripes, polka dots, circles or left white.

4. You can let me know if there is a color theme you prefer, but please keep in mind, my color choices are limited because I’ll be using oil pastels, not paint.

5. Please let me know if you need the portrait by specific date, especially if it’s fast approaching. It will generally take me a few days to complete your painting because I’ll be drawing it by hand – not by simply clicking a button on an app.

6. Once I receive your payment, I will begin the drawing. When it’s finished, I will send you a photo of it. After that the painting will be promptly shipped off to your home. Please make sure your address is correct on Paypal when you pay. I can’t ship to third parties.

7. Since I will retain the copyright of the painting, I reserve the right to offer giclee prints of it for sale after it’s been created.

Shipping is included within the USA. I’m no longer shipping outside the US.

Small and large prints can be made available, if you’d like to purchase them for family and friends. I won’t make prints from every drawing, so if you’d like prints, please let me know when you contact me.
