The lightweight nature of the paper mixed with gouache & water resulted in crinkles and buckling in certain areas. This contributes to the raw, imperfect aesthetic of the artwork, making it all the more endearing and unique.

This is a gouache portrait painting of a woman named Mary, and her lamb. I got thinking about the nursery rhyme Mary had a little lamb, and how annoying that must have been for Mary to have a lamb follow her wherever she went. I mean, she had no privacy. Everyone needs privacy. No wonder Mary looks so grrrr!! Poor little lambie has no idea he’s being a pest. Aww!
