Quick sketches

I finished this art journal/sketch book, notebook or whatever you want to call it. These pages were all fast timed drawings. I used the websites in the links I posted last week.

Nudes

I can’t remember what site it was now – I don’t think I shared it because I didn’t bookmark it – but the only photos they showed to sketch were nude figures. It took me a minute to realize..hm…everyone here is naked. ha!

I don’t think I’m going to make a flip through video of this art journal like I had planned a couple months ago. I’m trying to divide my time between my art gig, and going through some vintage & antique items that I recently bought at a local auction. I have 15 or 20 boxes of stuff, which I need to unpack, research, photograph, and list in my vintage store. At the same time, I’m constantly looking to buy more items to resell. Now is the best time of year to buy, if you’re a reseller, so I’ve been taking advantage of that.

My plate is overflowing, and it’s definitely taking time away from my art, but it’s okay. I’m still doing the important stuff – creating new artwork almost every night. But I asked myself, should I spend hours making a video that won’t get any views because of the algorithm or get some of this vintage stuff up for sale. It’s kinda a no brainer.

I think my focus is in the right place. There were several months over the winter when my vintage shop was severely neglected because I had a ton of custom portrait orders, projects I was working on with companies & 100s of paintings sold. This is something that usually happens every year, but this year was the busiest by far. So, my vintage store deserves some attention now that things have quieted down. I can always change my mind about making the video when I have time.

How to Paint a Portrait in Gouache | Step by Step! – I’ve never quite got the hang of gouache. Maybe it’s the brand I’m using, but it never seems to dry fully. I don’t like using it in my art journals because it feels tacky, and the pages stick together if I don’t wax them.
