Before
Oil portrait painting mini
I painted this little mini portrait back in 2017 when I painted every day for 365 days. I just came across it again a couple days ago, and decided to revise it a little..
I’m not so good at painting strands of hair, and I know this. Her hair always bothered me, but I decided to leave it alone at the time. I think I was trying to paint 30 of these mini oils portraits that month, so I didn’t take time to fix it. I had to move on to the next one.
I didn’t change the background. The oil paint has darkened a bit over time. Either that or it’s because I took these photos with my phone, and the top photo was probably taken with a DSLR camera. Not sure.
Seeing these new photos, there are couple more things I want to fix, which I couldn’t see before because I’ve been staring at the painting too long. I’m going to fix it now before I offer it for sale again. I’ll let you know when it’s dry, and where it will be available. It’s oil, so it will be a few days.
I have been bingeing videos by artist Sandi Hester again. I’m hoping if I watch enough of her videos some of her enthusiasm will rub off on me. I remember being as excited as a kid on Christmas day about my artwork years ago, and I’d love to have that feeling back some day.
Also fun – hearing Sandi talk about how she approaches her art and studio in the Authentic Obsessions podcast. Maybe I haven’t been looking, but it’s been a long while since I’ve heard artist interviews like this. The host seems like she’s genuinely interested in her guests, and wants to hear what they have to say. She’s not just doing it just for the numbers, like others have in the past. It makes a HUGE difference.
The clearance sale is still ongoing in my Etsy shop. If you’re looking for some art at reduced prices, now is your chance. I just took a bunch of photos, and will be adding more to the sale this week. Stay tuned!!
