Woman & lamb gouache portrait painting – Everywhere Mary Went

This is a gouache portrait painting of a woman named Mary, and her lamb. I got thinking about the nursery rhyme Mary had a little lamb, and how annoying that must have been for Mary to have a lamb follow her wherever she went. I mean, she had no privacy. Everyone needs privacy. No wonder Mary looks so grrrr!! Poor little lambie has no idea he’s being a pest. Aww! 

I hand painted this piece in a naive painterly art style on 135 lb acid free paper with gouache paint.
