daily painting: 365 day art project
Day 87
The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

I don’t know how it happened so fast, but I am rubbing up against 3 months of daily painting and blogging. I thought I’d share some tips I found for daily painters, if anyone is thinking of jumping on board. There’s only one tip I’d add to this, and that is RUN!! GOOOoo NOW WHILE YOU STILL CAN!! Ahem. Okay..maybe that’s not the most positive thing to say, so let me start over..
To greatly lessen the daily stress you’re going to feel once the days start flying by at an alarming rate of speed (because time will speed up the second you become a daily painter, I swear) start daily painting a few weeks in advance of announcing your intentions. Get a feel for showing up in your studio and painting every day before you commit to something long-term. Get a routine started, get a large stack of paintings finished. If you’re going to blog, get blog posts written and scheduled well in advance. Two weeks is a comfortable safety net, imo. Three weeks would be even better.
I didn’t do this at first, and I wish I had. The pressure to get something salable painted, photographed, photos edited, painting listed, print listed, blog post written, and social media posts done all in a few hours – every single day – can be intense.

Now that I’m almost 90 days in, I have worked out a pretty solid daily routine, and I’ve painted ahead of my blog to cut down the level of stress. Heck, this every day painting gig is almost a breeze at this point.
Yeah, sure..”breeze”. The kind you feel when someone blows a raspberry in your face, perhaps. pfffffffffffft. haha!! (deep down inside, I still think I’m a complete and utter fool for even attempting this crazy long project, and I ask myself why, why, why must I be so stupid??? every single day)
