This painting, titled Caught Up in Whimsy is available in my shop.
It went from raining for 2 solid months to HOT, sunny, and humid, just like that. Oh, snap! Had to turn the air on for the first time last week. I can’t complain, we’ve turned it on in February before. This year, we actually had springlike weather, and a nice long break from the heat. I promised my husband this year that I would lay off the moaning and groaning about how hot it is. He LOVES summer. Me, I could skip over the entire season, and be happy as a lark (an old saying my grandmother used to say). I’m going to stay positive though. I am!! I’m going to take 5 showers a day, and I’m not going to complain. Yeah, sure. haha
You are the sky. Everything else – it’s just the weather.

Side note: this is one of the best hands I’ve ever painted, imo. I absolutely love how it came out. People always told me that hands were hard to draw and paint, but I find it easy. I think it’s because I don’t stress over doing them like some artists do. 😉

I have a large, growing collection of quotes. Every one I see that resonates with me, I copy and paste it into a text file, and save it. Whenever I need a quote for my blog post, I have a slew of them on hand. I see a lot of quotes online every day, on FB, Twitter, everywhere, but surprisingly, I only have two all time favorites.
I do this not for you. I do it so I can shut up the gnawing, dimwitted critics in my brain who tell me I am nothing.
Natalie Goldberg
I love Natalie Goldberg. I’ve carried Writing Down The Bones around with me since it was published in 1986. I’ve read both of her memoirs, and all her books, except a couple, I just noticed. Ack! I must get them! She speaks my kind of language, and her words flow so smoothly, it’s almost like she’s in the room speaking directly to me. It’s not surprising to me that one of her quotes is my favorite.

My second favorite quote is by Felix Gonzalez-Torres, a gay visual artist, who sadly, passed away from AIDS in 1996, when he was only 38 years old. I did a Goggle search, so you can see his art here.
I was here. I was hungry. I was defeated. I was happy. I was sad. I was in love. I was afraid. I was hopeful. I had an idea and I had a good purpose and that’s why I made works of art.

What are some of your favorites? You never know, I may find a new favorite upon yours.
