Only six days to go of the 30 paintings in 30 day challenge. I feel like I’m on a roll, and I don’t want to stop. A funny thing happens to me after I’ve painted and blogged every day for 3 weeks straight. I don’t know if it’s because I start to get delirious or what, but I begin to think..hey, y’know, this ain’t so bad. I start to settle in, get comfortable in my own skin. I forget the things I dislike about blogging, like writing. haha It’s true, tho. Sometimes, if I think I have to come up with words on top of posting artwork, it makes my head want to explode. But, here I am, forcing myself put down a few sentences every day, and it hasn’t killed me yet! So, I start imagining that I can keep this pace up forever. I fantasize about marking each day here with my paintings and words, so I have a record of my days. How cool would that be?

I want to challenge myself to blog every day for an entire year. I know several artists who paint and blog every day, like Jacki Long, and of course, the artist who started the daily painting movement, Duane Keiser. He doesn’t post every day anymore, but he did for a long while. If they can do it, what’s stopping me? So, maybe this is day 24/365, huh? 🙂 Whoa!

I opened a Storenvy a couple weeks ago, but I am sad to say that I closed it today. I got an email yesterday stating they’re going to be using a new form of payment called Stripe, and they will be dropping Paypal completely. As much as I love being able to design my own storefront, I’m really not interested in making the switch. Honestly, I think it’s presumptuous and reckless of them to think that everyone, buyers and sellers, are going to jump over to this new company when we’ve used Paypal now for many years. But, what do I know? Maybe everyone will be happy to do it, and I’ll be the only one closing up shop.

The heat has left once again. Crazy yoyo weather has got me thinking of doing some plein air painting. Better be quick before it comes back. I don’t think I’ll be good at it, but it will be fun to try. How hard can it be to paint flat ground? ::snort::

Day 8

The weather has turned fall-like. We went from 100F+ for the past 6 or more weeks down to 67F yesterday. I had chills all day, and it was GREAT!!! I had to put a blanket over my office chair because it’s plastic, and freezing cold on my bare legs. I LOVE it. I’m still wearing shorts and a tshirt. I have the window open, and the fan blowing in the nice chilly air, and I’m cold, and sooooo happy.

I know, I’m in the minority, probably, but I would much rather be cold than hot..anytime, any day. If I’m cold, I can bundle up, turn on the space heater, turn on the furnace, put on a hoodie, wear gloves, grab a hat out of the drawer. If I’m hot, I can.. hm..sit here and sweat? Yuck! The older I get, the less I like summer, and being sweaty. I want to move to Alaska, but my husband would be such a baby about the cold and snow, there’s no way. You could say we’re opposites when it comes to agreeing about the weather.

I was listening to indie folk music while painting tonight, and sipping chamomile tea with honey. I popped an Apples and Cinnamon plugin into the outlet, and before I knew it, all was right in my little world. If Fall isn’t ready to come to me just yet, then I shall go to it. The heat index was 100F once again today.

Two nights in a row, there’s been a fly buzzing around my office while I’m trying to write a blog post. Tonight it landed on my teacup, probably feasting on a speck of honey that drizzled down the side. I have swatted, and hit it at least 3 times, and it gets up and flies away, only to be back a few minutes later. I’m a bit frustrated, but as long as it’s not flying into a wet impasto painting, we’ll be all set.

Monday is by far my favorite day of the week

Yay..it’s Monday!!! :))) Monday is by far my favorite day of the week. How many people do you know who say that? Probably not many, sadly. Most everyone hates their job. But, the way I look at it, I have 5 long days in front of me to get lost in the process of creating. I wonder what I’ll paint this week. hm..it’s always a mystery to me until my brush is moving around on the canvas. Can’t wait to get started. I’ll see you tomorrow!!

Oh, that Sylvia. I’ve read all her poems, word for word, but I can’t find the answers I’m seeking there. She haunts me, and I think of her often, although not as often as I once did. I can never make my paintings look as sad as I imagine she was, tho.
