I got a new laptop yesterday, and a new Brother laser printer. I’ve been busy setting both up. Despite what the reviews said, it was super easy to connect the wireless printer to my mac. I’m really happy with both so far. Now I don’t have to be stuck at my desk all day, and I’m able to print shipping labels once again. Yay! It’s all the little things. Life is good. 🙂

A couple weeks ago I made some changes, and I now offer free shipping within the USA in both of my Etsy shops. I’m trying to simplify things across the board as much as possible, and refunding $5.00 here or there for excessive shipping charges was a hassle. It’s easier this way for everyone.

More changes are on the horizon. I’ll be updating you on some other stuff in a couple weeks.

I need to update this photo because after seeing it on the screen, I went in, and added a few tiny details here and there. Nothing big..like, I made her nostrils darker, and gave it a few touchups here and there.

I’m pretty sure I had Jenny Mustard in mind when I painted this one, although the reference I used wasn’t Jenny. I think I referenced a model in an old Vogue magazine, if I remember right. My blog is running about a month behind what I’m working on in real time, and because I paint so much, I get fuzzy on the details sometimes.

Reading: Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life by Jenna Bush Hagar and Barbara Pierce Bush – this is a feel good, pull at your heartstrings kind of book that makes me miss being a little kid. No matter what side you land on in politics, I think you’ll enjoy reading this book. Once I started reading, I had a hard time putting it down.

Contemplating Changes – Daily painting day 339 – 341

This painting was originally painted a few years ago, and it’s been sitting in my Etsy shop ever since. Got a little sick of looking at it, so I’m revising it. So far I’ve changed the colors (from dark to light), the background, her face, her shirt, and the rose in her hair. Yeah, that’s pretty much the entire painting. Still need to work on her mouth, obviously, but it’s getting there.

Works in progress – Daily painting days 336, 337 & 338

This one is still a work in progress. I’m going to let it dry for a few days before I proceed.

You might remember this painting from last summer. I think I posted it as one of my daily paintings back in July or August, even though I wasn’t happy with it at the time. I’m not sure if I like it now, but I’ve started to revise it. Switched over to oils, and I’m thinking of blocking out the words. Needless to say, it’s still a work in progress.

When you’re doing a long term project, such as a year long one like the 365 days of daily painting, you look for little milestones to celebrate along the way..or at least I did, still do. It helped keep me going, gave me something to look forward to, and brought me another step closer to my goal.

This is probably the largest milestone yet. Tonight I’m in a celebratory mood because in exactly one month, I’ll be finished with the 365 daily painting project. So close! The countdown is ON.

For the past 11 months, I’ve kept track of the number of days I’ve been painting daily on a large dry erase calendar on my wall. Yesterday, as I was erasing days past, which were written in black, and filling in what’s to come in blue, I filled in the number 365. !!! It’s become such a habit, that I almost continued on with number 366, but I stopped myself just in time. I stood back, stared at the 365 in disbelief. It was a surreal moment.

I can see day 365 now. It’s right there every time I look to the right, and my eye automatically searches for it now, sometimes frantically. Where is it? Where is it??!! Ahh, there it is. The light at the end of this year long tunnel finally staring back at me. 🙂 Have to say it feels pretty good.

Handmade book cover – Daily painting day 332 & 333

I’m preparing for a huge change that might be coming soon on a personal level. I say “might” because I’m not the one in the driver’s seat, so I’m not in control of when and what happens, not even remotely. I’m willing and eager to go along for the ride..if we can just get the car engine to start.

I’m secretly hoping it can all wait until after the 365 day project is over, but if not, I’ll have to call the project off abruptly before I actually hit the one year mark. This will suck, and not suck at the same time. To not make it to day 365, after making it this far will be a bummer, of course, but.. priorities, y’know?

I’ll probably write about what’s going on in another post sometime soon, when I know more details. We’ll see.
