It’s been so long since I’ve painted that even my most used pink paint was completely dried up in the pot. Maybe it’s just me, but I always think paint looks like it’d be yummy to eat. haha! This looks like it would have a sweet pink candy taste and maybe marshmallowy in texture? All stuff I can’t eat, but I can surely dream. lol
After I wiped the drool off my chin, I quickly got busy mixing more paint..
Mixing paint feels therapeutic to me, I’m not sure why. It sometimes takes me an hour or more to get all the little pots full, and I feel so relaxed while doing it.
This will be the last time I fill these little containers because I purchased some glass replacement jars yesterday. I’ve used these little plastic pots for years, and have taken many photos of them for my blog, but it’s time to move on. The covers are starting to be a chore to put on because of the build up of paint around the edges.
Plus, I hope that having jars with lids that screw on, instead of snap on, will make the paint less likely to dry out in between painting sessions. I seem to be taking long breaks from painting these days, and when I come back, the paint in the pots is unusable. I threw out a lot of hardened paint the other day, so I hope the new jars solve my problem.
Artist tip: when using jars with screw on lids for paint, be sure to put a heavy layer of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly inside the lid. It keeps the paint from sticking the lid to the jar, and the jar will always open easily. If you don’t want to get the vaseline on your fingers (it is toxic to some), use a palette knife..that’s what I do.
I haven’t painted a floral in quite some time, and that’s what I was in the mood to paint the other day. I’m actually working on two floral paintings at the same time. I’ll show you the other one later this week or next.
I think I have spring fever, and that’s why I chose to paint florals. It’s going to be 81F tomorrow, and the thought makes me giddy. Of course then it will be back in the 50s for at least 10 days, and only 20F at night. Ugh. I’m soooo ready for the cold to be gone this year.
It’s still a work in progress. It kinda looks like a hot mess at this stage. lol But, I know it’s really starting to come together now. I think I’m on layer 5, and the most difficult part is being patient and letting it dry between layering. The drying time far outweighs the painting time. I’ll try to remember to take more progress shots as I go along. Okay..back to work!
I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday. xo
The clearance sale is still ongoing in my Etsy shop. Some paintings have been marked down 75%. I’m trying to make room for the new paintings coming this year. I’m adding more paintings daily, so be sure to check it out.
