Studio is all moved, but what a mess. I have blocked off a tiny area to work in, tho, and I haven’t missed a beat..the 365 day art project marches on. I’ll show you a sneak peek of my new studio..

See, I told you it’s a MESS, and this is the clean side of the room. The other side of the room is stacked almost to the ceiling with stuff that will be going across the hall, once my husband gets his new office finished. He’s working on the ceiling and walls today. If all goes well, he’ll start sanding the floor tomorrow, and all that will be left to do is varnish. It’s moving along quickly. The hardest part will be waiting a week or so until we can walk on it.

Side note: If you’re looking for an economical studio setup, this is what I did many years ago..I bought kitchen counters at a discount outlet in Wichita. The countertops were brand new, but slightly damaged with a couple chips off the top lip. It’s not that noticeable, but you probably wouldn’t want it in your kitchen. For a studio, tho? Works great!! I think it cost me about $40 for each one. Keep in mind, this was like 15 years ago. I haven’t priced countertops recently. 

I would love to buy some kitchen cabinets to sit the countertops on some day..that would give me ideal storage space. Right now, I’m using filing cabinets underneath, which works fine. Whatever gets the job done, eh? The important thing is I have a room to paint in. When I think about some of my former studios, (like the 2 years I spent trying to paint in the long, skinny walk-in closet downstairs..”where there’s a will, there’s a way”), I’m soooo grateful for all this space.
