I’m continuing on with my Photo booth Series that I started last month. I don’t know if I’ll ever grow tired of this series. I have always loved old black and white photographs, so this series is right up my alley. I love the hairstyles, and being able to use my creative license, and add color where there wasn’t any in the photo.
 
 
I found out an easy way to have reference photos delivered to my inbox every day. I went to Ebay, and did a search for vintage photo booth photos, and saved the search. Now, every day I get email with numerous photos in it. I sit at my desk with a photo open on the screen in front of me, and I very loosely draw the person. I usually exaggerate the hair or some facial feature..in other words, I make the painting my own, and I don’t copy the photo exactly. If I like the photo, I bid on it. 🙂 I have a huge collection of photos that I’ve bought on Ebay, and it grows by the month. It’s kinda an obsession with me, just a wee bit one.

It was snowing earlier today, and I was sooo excited. Now, it’s pouring rain, which is great, too. I love a good stormy day, doesn’t matter if it’s rain or snow. Sunny days are so boring to me. I know..I’m weird, but I’ve been this way since I was little. I get excited every time the weather turns dark..(not tornado dark, of course. That’s too scary) I loved wearing my raincoat and boots. Still do!!

She’s on her way to her new home in Maine. 🙂 Some paintings are hard to let go, knowing I’ll never see them again. This is one of them. I painted her after my cat Emma died on Mother’s Day. This painting will always remind me of Emma. At least I’ll always have the photo, tho, right?

Well, this is it! The last day of the 30 paintings in 30 days, and 29 faces challenge. It’s over! I painted more than 30 paintings, and those will be coming up in future blog posts. 🙂 I feel pretty darn good. Thanks everyone for all the comments, and I hope we’ll remain friends. I’ll still be blogging. I’ll still be painting every day. So, I hope I’ll be seeing you around.

Okay, this painting has a funny history. She started out a girl, turned into a boy, and ended up a girl at the end. I love how paintings transform as you work on them. Gender changes are pretty normal for my paintings. I never know how it’s going to turn out, and until the painting is completely finished. I often ask my painting, “Are you a boy or a girl?” I wait a few seconds for an answer, then I pick up the brush, and keep painting. Ah, she’s a girl! Only two days left of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days and 29 Faces Challenge. Wow! I’ll be sad to see it end. It’s funny, I almost didn’t do either challenge. I was so nervous putting my link up on Leslie’s blog the first week. I would literally get a little sick to my stomach. I felt very intimidated. There are a lot of very talented artists doing the challenge, and I was worried I wouldn’t be good enough. With 29 Faces, I only had to add my link once, so that was easier. 🙂
 
By week two, I was adding my link to Leslie’s blog every morning like a pro. haha I got over feeling so shy, and inadequate. I think it’s because so many artists commented here, and it made me stop doubting myself. I began to relax, settle in, and get comfortable.

It really has been a lot of fun to play along with some fabulous artists, and see a huge collection of work being created. I’m glad I decided to do the challenges, and now I think I’m going to continue on, and keep painting daily. Why not?

I stayed up late last night reading a fabulous blog called No Trash Project. I am fascinated by what this girl is doing. Here’s what it’s about from her blog..

“The goals of the project are:

-To eliminate personal trash production by avoiding the purchase of anything in packaging.

-To be informed about the lifecycle and environmental impact of the goods I consume.

-To live simply and only keep belongings that are essential to thrive.”

She doesn’t own a trash can. !!! It amazes me. The things we can do, if we only try. I don’t think the lifestyle would work for me, but it is making me think of ways I can reduce the amount of trash I have. Have a look, and see what you think of her project.

Day 24 of the 30 day painting challenge, and I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s been going so great, tho. I’m not getting tired. I could keep going at this pace for a while, and maybe I will. Painting every day is something I did anyway, but blogging, I wasn’t so great at doing every single day. Now I see I can do it. There shouldn’t be an excuse not to, right? haha 
 
Artist Kathleen Coy painted and blogged every weekday for a year. She suggests trying it for at least a month, which I’ve almost done. I think a year would get tiresome. But, the thought of having all those paintings finished..ahhh!! I really want to try it!! Dare I? Only 11 more months to go now. :)))

She wanted to be sad, and troubled. I tried hard to convince her otherwise, but oh those lips. Those lips wouldn’t have it, and no matter how hard I tried, her lips reminded pouty. Her eyes, a hard cold stare. She has a troubled mind.
