I decided to revise this painting this week. Below is the before photo, and above is what it looks like now.
Something a little different today because sometimes I make snap decisions, and this is what happens when I do. So, I painted this one back in 2009, I think. It’s been hanging on my bedroom wall ever since. I listed it on Etsy, and it got a little attention..a few likes, treasuries, and whatnot. It didn’t sell, tho. The other night when I walked in my bedroom, and saw it there on the wall, I knew I had to revise it. I immediate took it down, and the next morning, it went upstairs with me to the studio. I liked it before, but I like it more now.
Day 8 of 30 in 30
Now back to florals..
Black Bird, Day 12 of 30 in 30
Day 12 of 30/30
Black Bird
Palette Knife Painting
Bird Series No 8
This one is from last week. I was still being tight and careful with the palette knives, I can tell. After painting portraits for a long while, it’s hard for me to let go, and paint loosely. I almost have to practice making a mess, but I do start to let my hair down after a few days. Here’s a peek at what I did last night..
These are backgrounds for new floral paintings, which I’ll be shipping to SC for a showing when finished.
I’m having an end of summer sale going on in my Etsy shop now. I’d love to see these babies go to new homes soon.
She’s Your Soft Landing
Girl with long reddish brown hair, wearing a black dress, holding a black bird in her hand – figurative painting. Winter scene. Snow, and slate blue sky. This wintry vision I have in my head comes from a vivid memory I have of my Mom, and how she would tell me to stand outside in the snow with a tiny piece of bread on my hand. She said if I was quiet and still enough, a bird would land on me, and I would get to feed him. aw! How I wanted that to happen!! This is the tenth time I’ve painted this painting, and each time it comes out slightly different. All paintings have been sold, except this one of a girl wearing a masquerade mask.
This last photo shows what the painting might look like framed to help you visualize it. The frame isn’t included in the purchase of this painting. I don’t offer any framing services.
