The lighting in my studio leaves much to be desired. My studio faces north, and it resembles a dark little cave. I have the overhead light on all day because it’s too dark in here to work otherwise. Since there’s a window directly behind the easel, and the paint is still wet when I take the photo each day, I’m constantly getting a reflection of the window on the canvas. I’ve been turning the easel slightly to try to avoid the glare, but it’s far from an ideal situation. I’m pretty sure 2018 is going to be the year for me to invest in some proper indoor lighting, so I can take better photos, and perhaps, a new camera, also.

It’s funny how my paintings look different to me in a photo versus in person. I didn’t see a blue lobster when I was standing in front of the painting, but I saw one immediately when I looked at this photo. haha!

Watching: Have you seen the trend on Youtube where people record a one second video every day for a year? It sorta reminded me of the 5 minute painting I’m doing..how both concepts are squeezing life out of a ticking clock. I watched a couple videos last night, and it’s surprising how much you see in only 1 second intervals. This young lady’s was my favorite.. About 2017 // 1 second every day for a year.

Happy New Year, everyone. I wish all the best for you in the upcoming year. If you’ve supported my art business in any way over the past year, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate your patronage more than you’ll ever know. I couldn’t continue to do this without your help.

Happy New Year’s eve! I hope you have a fun, safe night. Since it’s been brutally cold here (-12F this morning), I’ll be trying to stay warm under the electric blanket with three cats piled on top of me. I’ll see you in the new year.

I’m starting to regret starting a painting this large when I only get 5 minutes a day to work on it. I should have waited until next month when I could work without interference from the timer. I want to paint wet on wet, but it’s next to impossible with the clock ticking so loudly. hm..well, I’ll just have to take it inch by inch, and see what happens. I’ll just putter along until January, and finish it up then.
I listened to Blind Melon – No Rain while I painted today.

I used an L square to draw some lines, but the one near the bottom still ended up a bit crooked. I didn’t notice it until after the timer had sounded, and I stood back. Oops. A t-square would have worked better in this situation, but I broke mine years ago, and never bought a replacement.

ps: I spent all day working on a new layout for my website. Let me know what you think of it in the comments or drop me a line. I especially want to know if there are any issues. I won’t be around much tomorrow, but I’ll be working on it some more on Sunday. Hope everything holds up well until then.
After staring at code all day, I should sleep well. zzzz Night!

I’m starting to think about January, and what my theme will be for my 6th month of daily painting. Wow!! Six months!! I’m almost half way through my 365 daily painting project, and I haven’t missed a day yet. ::toot toot:: <— Yes, that was me, tooting my own horn. hahaha Riiidicuuulous!!
I’ve got a couple new ideas for January. I’ll be putting away the timer next month, but I will be sticking to limiting the time I spend on the 365 day project. I’ll tell you more about my other ideas soon. I need more time to think about it first.
