Friday, March 29th 

It’s a lovely rainy day. I’m going to spend a great deal of time working over the weekend, so today I’m giving myself a wee bit of break. The only thing on my schedule is painting/filming later this afternoon.

Moving house just a couple days before Christmas sent me into a tailspin for a while. I’m still not completely caught up or organized. The storage shed remains full of boxes to unpack, but life is getting a little easier. I’m allowing myself some breathing room today, for a change. It feels well deserved. 

Blue tonal portrait painting palette

I’ve had a lot of fun playing with tonal portraits lately. So far, I’ve painted a blue, orange, and pink one using the same reference photo.

My husband installed a new storm window on my studio yesterday.
Almost every window in the house has to be replaced
because they’re either missing completely (stolen?), smashed, or full of bullet holes. 
The house was vacant for about a year..
 and this is Murica, y’know?

Sunday March 31st

The sun came back, and the afternoon was quite warm. I was able to take my hoodie off, and wear just a t-shirt. 

I wanted to show you the fun I had today in my studio with my buddy, Joint Compound. We had a BLAST!! lol 

I had the crappiest putty knife to work with, so instead of buying a new one, I used a palette knife. It worked great, until I snapped the handle. Oops. Nothing a bit of duct tape didn’t fix. lol 

WIP acrylic portrait painting

After I finished the wall, I filmed this portrait painting for my Youtube channel. I need to go back in and level things a bit on her face. I was painting sitting down with the painting flat on the table in front of me, kitty-cornered. Not a great angle. It’s definitely noticeable because her eyebrow arch is too high, her cheek is too large, and her lips are slanted downward. Almost looks like she just had a tooth extracted or something. lol I probably should be using my table easel, but it’s hard to film over my shoulder. My head keeps getting in the way. Oh, well. I’ll get it fixed tomorrow. 

Monday April 1st

 
During my daily painting session today, I’m going to be finishing up this pretty. I’m so thankful that I made the decision to upload a video every day in May because it’s making me get back into the studio. It’s been about 5 months since I’ve been consistent about painting. 

Wednesday April 3rd

I took yesterday off from the studio because life and office stuff got in the way. I was having a problem with Photoshop. Downloaded the newest version, and then spent many hours trying to fix it. I ended up going back to the 2015.5 version because it’s the only one I can get to work properly with my mac for some reason. 

Today I need to get photos edited, and sent in to a licensing company, and then film a painting this afternoon. It’s a warm, but gloomy day, and I feel like sitting around reading or going to bed and watching youtube videos. Better snap out of it quick! 

Sooo..I worked on this one a bit. I filled in the background so her cheek sticks out less on the right. I moved her eye and eyebrow down. There’s still something about it that is bothering me..not sure what it is, so will have to work on it more later. I still can’t seem to get my shit together today. Oh, well. 

Thursday April 4th

I’m going to wrap this week up with a pretty bow, and call it just about done. Friday to Thursday seems like a cool format to post. It’s kinda like daily blogging, sorta.. without having the pressure of writing a good stand alone blog post each day.  

One last pic before I go..

My precious girl, Sweet Pea, had her 8 year old birthday last week, and along with 4 bags of kitty treats, she also got this new scratchy thingy. She claimed it immediately by sitting on it, and then Chewy photobombed her. haha! 😀 He was smelling the floor to see if there were any more treats to be found. Sorry, Chew Chew..all gone.
