Studio after dark
My favorite time to paint is at night. I’m most relaxed after the sun goes down, and the stars come out. It’s peaceful, and I can let my mind wander as I paint. I’ve been known to pull all the blinds and curtains shut at noon, just to pretend it’s nighttime. It sets the mood, and it’s less distracting. Being up here in the trees like I am, I see birds flying around, and I tend to stop and watch them. Some days I don’t get a lot done because I’d rather watch the birds than paint. I counted 9 red cardinals the other day. That was worth stopping for. 🙂
black fingernails – art journal warm up page
Using a magazine cutout is a great way to warm up before starting to paint more seriously on canvas each day. I do this in my art journal, using mostly cheap craft paint. It doesn’t cost much, and it engages my brain, and gets my hands moving. I do this exercise every day. Sometimes, I turn the camera on.
I painted my nails red today. I don’t know why I just wrote that, but I did. haha Happy Thursday, and happy PPF, if you’re visiting on Friday. Let’s not let the day pass by without getting drunk…on art, of course. What did you think I meant? lol For real, tho. I really like this shade of red. In case you’re wondering it’s Maybelline Express Finish No 190, Racing Rubies. I got it on Ebay – here. No affiliation. I just like it, and the seller ships fast. I don’t normally go for red, but this one is dark, and shiny.
