I’ve probably mentioned it many times, but the book I’m using for this art journal is a super cheap composition notebook. The brand is Mead, and it had a pink cover before I gessoed it, like this..
You can pick one up at Target or Walmart for less than a buck. Grab some cheap art supplies while you’re there, and you can start your own art journal.
The best part about using these cheap notebooks is you can doodle, and make as much ugly art as you’d like in them. Scribble, draw, make marks. The outcome isn’t important in this exercise. It’s the experience that counts. If you have fun, you’re doing it right.
There’s absolutely no pressure to make good art. Whenever I pick up this notebook, I know it’s my time to just relax, have fun, and play..usually while I’m watching something on Netflix.
This is such an easy exercise that reminds me not to take art or myself seriously. It’s only paint, a few art supplies, and a cheap notebook, after all.
