I was having so much fun with these gestural drawings last week, I decided to do more. 🙂 If this keeps up, I might end up making an entire art journal with these figure drawings, and paintings at some point. 

These were created using a stabilo pencil, watercolor paints, acrylic paints and collage paper. If you’ve never tried stablio pencils, they have a soft, waxy lead. Similar to a charcoal pencil, but not as dry or chalky. Kinda like watercolor pencils, but the color is more pigmented, imo. 

The lines you make will bleed if you have water or paint on your brush. I love using them to smudge my lines around, which I did deliberately in the art journal page above. 

Have you ever tried gestural drawing and/or painting before? What was your experience like? 

On a completely different note..the heat index was 107F today, and tomorrow will be even warmer. Oh, summer, you naughty thing. You’re starting to remind me of why I’m not so fond of you. I’m trying hard to follow Seth’s advice, and forget ’bout it, but it’s kinda hard when it feels like I’m completely engulfed in weather, and it’s suffocating me. If you need me, I’ll be in my studio, sweating up a storm (cuz there ain’t no way my a/c is going to cut it).
