I’m in somewhat of an art slump lately. I picked up my art journal last night, and realized I haven’t painted in it since the end of June. I did manage to paint a couple pages, but my energy level was kinda meh the entire time. Wasn’t really in the mood to paint, but once I was finished, I was glad I gave it a shot at least. I can always go back in and add more to those pages later. It also got the ball rolling again, so maybe I’ll start to feel more creative soon?
I think it’s the heat that’s zapping all my creative energy. It happens every summer. Usually I’m still in the mood for art journaling, if nothing else, but this year’s a little different. I’ve been focusing on my other job..buying and selling antiques & vintage items. I’m exhausted by the end of the day & the last thing I want to do is work more.
Luckily, I have a folder full photos of art I created over the winter that I can post while I rest, and take a hiatus from painting daily. I’m confident that the urge to create will come back. These slumps never last long, so I’m not worried. I know soon enough I’ll be on fire again, creating non-stop for days on end. For now, I’m happily riding this summer slow down wave I’m in.
Make visible what, without you, might perhaps never have been seen.
