Looks cold, but it was 77F and windy when I took this photo yesterday afternoon. Wildfires in the area are causing the hazy look. Most of the leaves are gone now because of the high winds we’ve been having, but it was an absolutely gorgeous day. I meditated outside, despite all the noise from my street, walked Chewy, and soaked up the smoky sun.
Oil palette from a few weeks ago
Unless I get custom orders, I’m officially on a hiatus from painting for the rest of the year. I’m still cleaning out my art storage closet, and I’m feeling super overwhelmed with this massive chore. This is going to take WEEKS, not just a couple days like I thought when I first started this.
Knowing what’s ahead of me – photographing each painting, editing the photos, and listing all these paintings isn’t making me want to create more of them right now. It’s making me want to run screaming from the house, “Oh, hell nooooooo!!! Not another painting!!! AHHHHhhhhhhhh!” lol
I worked my way through this huge stack of abstracts this week.
They’ve been photographed, photos edited and listed on Etsy.
Oh, the glamorous life of an artist. lol This is the stuff I hardly ever write about because it’s so boring, but maybe it’s time I show more of what really goes on behind the scenes. When I say the work never ends, it really never ends.
Problem: I have waaaay too many paintings packed away in boxes because I paint faster than I list.
Solution: Stop painting, and have a BIG clearance sale. Mark everything 30 to 75% off normal prices. Ahh, good idea, if I do say so myself! lol
The abstracts below are on Etsy, but some are still in draft mode. I like to spread my listings out on Etsy, and not post too many all at once. If you see one you like, and it’s not live yet, you can lmk, and I’ll get it posted faster.
This is a stack of landscape paintings that I have sitting in front of me today. I just took all the photos, so it’s gonna be another Photoshop kind of day. I’ll see you when I come up for air..probably sometime next week. When I get this done, I’m definitely taking some downtime away from the computer. I’m exhausted.
Have a great weekend, y’all! Stay healthy & safe.
Artist I’m admiring: Jacinthe Rivard I especially love her old telephone paintings, but all her work is outstanding. OMGosh! LOVE!!!
