The rose has but a summer reign, the daisy never dies.

I’ve been blogging since 2001. Hard to believe, but I was doing this before the words “blog”, “blogging” or “Blogger” had been created. It used to be called “online journaling”. Everyone poured their hearts out to the world back then. It’s funny to think of it now because I rarely share personal stuff here on my blog. I miss those days.
Digital cameras hadn’t been invented yet, or they had, but were so expensive, nobody could afford to buy one. So, I used to take photos with a Canon 35mm, mail the film to TX, and wait for it to be developed. It took a couple weeks. There was no instant gratification, like we get today. In the meantime, I was taking more photos, and getting ready to mail another roll. It was expensive, I remember. When I got the photos back in the mail, I had to scan them in, which took hours. It was so much work. There was no Blogger or WordPress, so I had to hand code my posts in html. Then, FTP everything. There was no simple Publish button to push. Whoa..can’t even imagine going to alllll that work today.
Anyway, I have a thousand million photos saved. When things are kinda slow in my studio, like this week, since it’s a short holiday week here in the states, I start going through the old folders. I have everything saved by month and year. I’ve always been pretty organized when it comes to my computer, and I back up all my files onto several external hard drives..I have 4, in case one hard drive gets corrupted, I have backups of the backups. So, even though I’ve had several computers since 2001, I still have all my photos safely saved. These photos I’m posting today were from April 2004, and I had a digital camera by then, I think. I kinda miss that old camera. It had crazy depth of field, as seen in the first photo.
Okay, although it’s fun, enough reminiscing of the good ole days for now. I’ve got to get into the studio, and get some painting done today. 🙂
