I said the other day that I wasn’t going to post eBay listings here on my blog, but I’ve thought about it, and changed my mind. In order for paintings to sell, people have to know that they exist, and how will anyone know that if I keep them to myself?
Relying solely on the online selling venues to bring in traffic & sales isn’t something artists (or any seller) can count on these days. If you want to be seen, you have to pay for promoted listings. The more you’re willing to pay, the more eBay will show your listings to potential buyers.
The problem is that paying for promoted listings isn’t an option on eBay auctions, only BIN listings. Some of my auctions are lucky to get a handful of views because eBay gives promoted listings top priority..as they should because people are paying extra for the exposure. I think the only way people are seeing my auctions is if they happen to click through from one of my promoted listings.
So, as far as auctions go, I don’t really have a choice but to get the word out there myself..hence why I’ve changed my mind about writing blog posts about my eBay listings. Sink or swim, baby..I chose swim, even if it’s upstream – for as long as possible, anyway.
Side note: I just read this morning that eBay might be doing away with auctions altogether in the future. I’m not surprised auctions are failing..I mean, what did they expect to happen? But an auction site without auctions?? Those promoted listing fees must be stacking up high for them because they’re willing to kill their site over them. :/ Might as well just start calling eBay “Amazon”, instead.
If you’re not interested in purchasing my work, perhaps you still like to look at the photos, and see what I’ve been creating? If so, I truly hope these flowers bring happiness to your day somehow.
If you don’t like looking at photos of my work then I highly suggest you keep your eyes closed while you’re here reading my blog. lol I just had to bring some silliness in because I sounded too serious there for a minute, my bad. haha! I’m in a weird mood today, don’t mind me.
