Plastic Happiness
masquerade mask portrait painting
12×12 on canvas
This is another painting I recently revised. I didn’t change too much on this one, except her mask and the background. The mask used to be quite colorful, and a bit distressed. I think I sanded some of the paint off, if I remember right. The background was black.
I decided to change her mask color to solid black, and the background to white to make it all pop. I touched up her face with oil pastels, and I love the outcome.
I titled it Plastic Happiness. I was thinking about how we just keep buying more and more “plastic” or junk, as if it’s going to make us happy. It rarely ever does, hence the expression on her face. I know she spent a fortune on that mask, but once she got it, it was like meh. More than likely, it will be thrown on her closet floor by the end of the week.
If you’d like to purchase this painting, you’ll find it here.
