Yesterday wasn’t a good day for my state. We became one of the top ten states in the US that have a rise in covid numbers of more than 50%. Actually, since we opened back up a month ago, our numbers are up 300%. Kinda figured that would happen, which is why I remained in hiding self isolation.
Our governor has made wearing masks mandatory across the state starting on Friday. I’m crossing my fingers that it works to calm things down. I applaud Governor Kelly’s tough decision making. That’s what a true leader does. I only wish she would call for another stay at home order because things are waaay worse now than when she placed an order back in March. She got so many threats last time she did it, tho, I can understand her hesitation. Right now, I think no matter what she does, she’s damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t. She’s going to feel the hate.
Given the somber news, I’m going back to my studio to hide, social distance paint for the next several years months weeks days. Thank goodness I have this oil painting challenge to keep me busy. With covid ramping up, and the heat index of 110F today, I’m starting to feel cabin feverish. I need something to distract me from the news focus on right now. There are only so many hours a day I can sit around, nervously petting the cats without them getting annoyed with me.
Deep breath.
Stay calm.

Please stay safe out there. xo
